As far as Im aware you can only use the ATA flash disks on Windows PCs, and
not the older linear flash PCMCIA cards. Itd probably use a different
filesystem anyway, although Ive not tried it.
There is a Linux utility to access cisco filesystems on pcmcia
card.http://www.si.org/cffs/

the 3660 that had an image on it and also copied the running config onto
the flash then pulled it out and plugged it into a 3640, it did not see
either file.

The file systems must be different then. I am sure they are - as far as I
can remember.

If the flash cards are compatible in each of the platforms,
you can copy it
Not all cisco platforms use the same cards
