Brings a good question. How do I know my headstay is set properly? I've
always wondered and never known an answer. How do I know that my main sail
is optimum shape as a result?

I currently have no detectors on my boat and although it is on my list, this

Thanks for posting the video. I wish everyone had something like that. I
guess I don't get out much and seeing the other sister ships, layout,
personalized features, improvements, etc are very interesting and thought
provoking.

Can someone tell me the major differences in the 37/40 and the "R" version,
and are there other versions of the same boat.
By the way, apparently Beau Geste is in Toronto getting fixed by the owner
himself.

Hello listers,
One of my 2 wire-rope jib halyards got “stuck” doing a pre-start sail change
before a race last week. Wind was 18 knots and gusting so the sail was flogging
around a bit. Water was pretty flat due to offshore breeze so not a lot of
pitch/roll action of the boat.
Most of the wire

Hey John,

Hi all,
Have dropped my rudder for crack repair on top and leading edge due to water

I have construction drawings that show the inner mild steel plate and gussets
connecting to the stock.
Am wondering what weight of pourable foam to use. Based on what I have be
Ok, I spent way too much time looking on the archives for a LED conversion

bought an LED light fixture off the shelf and added red LED diodes with

Hello all,
There are reinforcing “pads” that are glassed in at the base of the small
bulkheads supporting the chain plates on my C&C 29 Mk1. Under the roving there
is balsa (mostly rotted) bonded to the inside surface of the hull.
Is it best to replace with identical new balsa core matting or do
Does anyone have experience with electrical system on this model of Yanmar? The

OK, so a lesson learned. Don't assume a temporary fix is good forever. A
few years back when I picked up the boat, the portside lever for the F/R
shifting was missing. I figured I'd eventually find it in the boat but
never did. In the meantime, I cut the head off a bolt, slid it in the

Thanks everyone for your input. The Aqua Signal connector looks like a great

Dennis,
Ya new would have been good. I blew one thought it was odd and googled the
model to get an exact match. The only thing that came up was 2 used on
ebay. I figured I better get them even used as I again thought 35-40 year
old breakers wouldn't be available new anymore. I guess too much
