Hi Lee,
We have a second reef on our 1987 33 km II and use it. We are in the Baie des
Chaleurs and sail in the gulf of st-Lawrence area.
It is way more efficient upwind to be properly trimmed than constantly have to
dump an overpowered main.
The location of the second reef should be discussed
Hi Lee, I sail the same boat on Lake Huron/North Channel and went through the
same thoughts 2 years ago when I replaced my main. After much thought I opted
for the second reef. So far I haven’t had occasion to use the second reef yet
but I had it put in for peace of mind if nothing else as the

Not specific to 33 mkII but it is my experience that most slab reef points are
equal distance from one another and the boom. About 1/4 of the height of the
sail per slab.

Hi Lee,
I have a 33 mkii on Lake Ontario and have a second reef. I use it a lot,
in fact probably more than my first reef.
I'll have to check when I get home on the exact location of the reef
points.

I have a 33MKII and all my mainsails have a single reef point.
I do have two reefing lines in my boom so I can accommodate a second reef and
am thinking of having one installed.

My questions are:
1. Do other 33MKII have as second reef?
2. Are they beneficial?
