maybe all your menu-system was broken. Yes that was the case, but I don't know why it happened. - Compile the driver for IDE CD-ROM drives as module so that the driver can be unloaded and replaced by the IDE-SCSI emulation. So IDE CD-writers can be used without recompiling the kernel.
