Yes you can (ntpd), but if the local clock is too far out, it will never
lock-in and properly adjust the system

Unless you changed something in your 4.1.1a, the
current setup doesn't allow you to use ntpd as a
server, you have to run xin

Not sure what you're referring to, but rdate does the
job, so ntpdate still isn't needed :o)

i think, if program is running as daemon (ntpd) and provide any service
