as stable as you can ask for. You might have to reinstall
any non-standard modules depending on where you start your upgrade
from, but with cpan this is easy as pie.

unstable is broken, and causes most all of KDE to crap out.
Visit the stable try and pick up libfreetype6-2.0.1 , which does not
break, and will work great with the 0.9-767 video driver. (At least,
for me during the last 24 hrs.)

When a recent pam upgrade for unstable was released, I had the same
problem with the screensavers. It was shortly fixed (this being about
2 weekends ago), and all is well...
On my system, pam (libpam-runtime, libpam-modules) is at 0.72-16.
