Happens every single time I install Ubuntu on every single computer I
have ever install it on. This time, it doesn't seem to have a solution.
Shows audio in volume control under output devices, but there is no
sound.

I had the same issue. In my case it turned out that gnome-control-center
had been uninstalled. I'm not sure why, but reinstalling fixed it.

When gnome-disk-utility formats a disk it assigns a new UUID.
UUID is the preferred way to identify disks in fstab.
Problem is that gnome-disk-utility does *not* update fstab.
As a consequence the system will not boot & newbies will be stumped. (I was

sound with the monitor off, and sound plays up until the moment I turn
