I was sent a message asking if this bug still existed. I responded that
it did, yet the bug report was changed to expired. How can this bug be
reopened? Why was it previously in an incomplete state. I believe that
I provided all of the requested information.. Am I suppose to change

Yes, this is still a problem for me and I can confirm that the same
version under ubuntu 14.04 works correctly, so this is likely related to
the build options used under 18.04, unless there is a library issue.

Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with compacting
folders in Thunderbird. You made this bug report some time ago and Ubuntu and
Thunderbird have been updated since then.
Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the

I noticed that Thunderbird was upgraded to 52.7 in the 18.04 release,
but for some reason the problem still exists (compact folder missing
from the folder menu) and still works consistantly for me under Ubuntu
