far more than from writing a few log lines.
lsof shows that lame has a pipe open to squeezeboxserver.
It puzzles me. When listening to flac tracks, there is hardly any disk
activity.

loaded the txt file and it seems that the lines are wrapped
different than in your post (which may explain the failure at the
poster's system?)
Could you verify that "$FILES -" has it's own line in the modification,
