Hi Eric Good to hear that the software isn't too far away. Hopefully we will be able to include the AUX relays in the band configurations It would, in my opinion make the KRC2 a much more useful shack accessory if the button functions could be redefined as well. This would make the KRC2 far more v

FWIW: Years ago, I used a transverter in satellite work that smoked with more than about 2W input. I fed my 30S1 into the Heath Cantenna, and tapped what I needed off a little RC voltage divider. Trevor Day wrote: > > I don't have an 850S, but you could try an external negative dc supply > (say

Hi One simple mod you could do would be to change out the three 160 ohm 3 watt resistors in the internal dummy load with 160 ohm 5 watt resistors. This should allow you to go to 10-12 watts with no problem. You will need to use MOS type non inductive resistors. Mouser has them. I would stand th

Hi Brendan, We're writing a Windows based KRC2 utility right now that will allow the user to map any combination of its output antenna relay drivers based upon what band it decodes. (You will be able to check off on the screen which antenna relays (one or more) are enabled per band.) This will

Of course you don't want to add an attenuator in the receive signal path. . The XV Transverter uses a simple resistive L-net attenuator inside on the TX circuit side of the Transmit/Receive switch. The attenuator is switched into the circuit that by jumpers when needed. The first question I'd a

Hi If the Kenwood has a low level transverter output then you can set up the jumpers for 0 to 1 MW input. Another option would be to build a 50 ohm 3 db power attenuator on the output of the Kenwood. There are several designs in the back of the ARRL handbook. The low level out is the best way t

I don't have an 850S, but you could try an external negative dc supply (say -9v to 0v) on the radios ALC input. That should vary the output from zero upwards. Most of the Kenwood range have a Din socket transverter port on the rear apron which outputs a couple of milliwatts or so although I s
