My old Dell desktop is not cutting it anymore, and I'm going to replace it.
This will not be the shack computer - I will use it in an office for general

Bill,
Good information on your blog. For additional information on setting
the K2 filters and the dial calibration, I refer you to the K2 Dial
Calibration article on my website. Yes, once set the K2 filters will
stay put. There is no need for continual filter changes unless the K2

Swap ends! What a concept! Of course, that made a huge difference
in routing the cable directly and _easily_ straight toward the fr
Ken,
While that is a good idea, I have never found it to be necessary. I
check on all the K2/100s that I repair.
Once the pads have "settled in", they do not compress any further.

Bruce,
Yes that is a good reminder - also note that it should be re-done if you
change the thermal pads.
For anyone who has had a KPA100 built for them, it might be a bit
intimidating at first to get to the screws. For anyone in that
position, send me an email, and I will send you the docume

Hi John,
The design of the K3EXREF module is finished, and it works very well.
We're getting ready to send some out for field test.
We'll announce the price and shipping information soon.

Some months back Wayne posted details of how the external reference locking
would work for the K3, and I recollect that field test was imminent. Since
then it has been very quiet. Having just finished GPS locking my 23cm
transverter it would be nice to get the K3 tied into the system too.

OK, yes, My TS-570 has a gender changer mounted on it's rear RS232
port. My main response was to the fact that the wiring is the same,
and I didn't consider gender. However, the cable I used for the 570
is the same cable I use for the K3, minus the gender changer.

Or alternatively, the DXE preamp manual outlines a number of simple mods to

more than is needed to bring your Beverages up to match other antennas,

Thanks to those who responded to my post regarding power-off loss of
stored hold function on FN7 with v1.05 P3 firmware. A parametric

powering off from the P3 alone or by using the K3.

Others opinions may vary, but here is my experience - a K2 works well without
DSP.
Yes you already likely heard a base K2 is all analog. But note that is has
this
feature - the xtal filter bandwidth is programmable. I literally have mine set

I'm not so sure... My FT-1000 MP Cat connection has a male DB9 connection,
and the K3 has a female connection. If the MP's convention is "standard" for
Yaesu rigs, then the FT2000 cord will not work. Serial cord connections on
PC's are male. The K3 requires a cord with male on one end and female
It should work fine. I replace my TS570 with a K3 and used the same

The measurement is quite accurate, and the ADC reference is OK. Sorry I didn't
point that out originally. I did get some data from Gary, which shows that his
K3 current meter is much more accurate than mine.
The meter accuracy itself isn't really important, but the error may be limiting
