I had mime trouble of my own, but not because of e.
The mime type info should be in /usr/share/mime/. Specifically look for
e binaries being listed in /usr/share/mime/packages. And read the docs

I was wondering, Entrance used to use the ~/.xinitrc or ~/.xsession file
to determine the default WM right? Because of late it seems it doesn't
use it anymore: the programs I had specified to start in that file don't
boot (xscreensaver and hotkeys respectively).

If my memory serves right, there's a few scripts that will automatically build
e17 for you using portage, and in the proper order. Being in portage, it
accounts for new build environment. I've never had a problem with it. You can
search for it on the gentoo forums, or you can wait for the weeken
You can do so by saving the window preferences.
Right click on your window -> Remember
Then select preferably window type, or window class for type of way to
remember, then select what you want it to remember.
After that, hit apply, ok, and try it out. Should work ok.

I don't know about mandrake, but in gentoo, if you look at /etc/rc.conf,
there is a line to change in it that'll make it be used by default.
I'm at work right now, so I can't tell you which line for sure, but look

As far as I know, if your kernel has 32 bit emulation it should work
fine. Otherwise just compiling the source on your 64 bit partition would
do the trick to get it working.

Indeed. And I'd add to that that having more than a few dozen backgrounds
seems to crash emblem on load.
I'd be happy to get a message when that part of emblem gets fixed.

I noticed e17 segfaults too, but mine does so at logoff...
Of course I'm not the most up to date in my cvs checkout (a couple of
weeks now).
But it theme switching is flawless for me. Logoff segfaults, but doesn't
bother me since I'm closing down anyway.
