there are any other Freevo users out there with C3's and the i810 video

Yes, you need to flash the onboard bios, (notice I didn't say
otherwise), but installing a modchip is no longer required.
Works fine as my in-car Freevo client :-)

You need to alter one of the options in list of parameters when you load
the em8300 module. Details are on the dxr3 homepage.

Does Freevo actually display ok? I got the dxr3 to work ok and films,
freevo and recordings etc display fine but could I heck make it work
with any SDL games!... they all complain about no video device or
compatible video modes.

I looks to me as if it is bombing out before doing any recording at all.
Python seems to be trying to open a file for writing (mode 'w'), and the
O/S is reporting that that particular mode is not allowed on the file.
Looks like a python/linux-fat32 driver problem, rather than free
ice
version of SDL. XMAME (0.77.1) in particular complains about 'SDL:
Vidmode_8 in Video16', or words to that effect.
For the life of me I can't seem find anyway around this problem... Any
ideas?

internal fans with nice silent jobs if you want it as a completely
silent set top box or to sit in amongst a VCR/satellite/cable/hi-fi
setup - it would be about a 15 minute job and they're pretty standard
sizes IIRC.

A bit late in reply, but I've been using Xbox/Linux/Debian/Freevo as an
in-car media system for a little under a year. Works great.

Hit tab during the game and map the MAME functions to button presses on
the gamepad. It should remember them for the next session.

Remember if you're calling 'startx' instead of 'X', you need to give a
double minus '--' before you add any arguments. E.g.

-f tells make to use a specific file as its makefile (it defaults to
'Makefile' and then 'makefile' within the current directory by default).
Yet another bit of useless information to file away ;-)

And then...

Can anyone point me in the right direction to remap some of freevo's keys?
In the target system for my use of freevo there will only be a numeric
keypad for control, hence the navigation, play, pause, select and escape keys
require remapping.
Cheers
