Yea right on, where is the email going? Luckily we only need one extra
account as TCAdmin will distribute to all our other servers.
I wouldn't be surprised if we get told, too bad, that was a mistake. But
an extra account for this would be very nice.

Alfred could set us up a download account with CS:GO according to the

I was under the impression there was a very simple bash script posted on
the CS:GO wiki to use gpg to protect user details? Regardless, I can't
update my servers without logging out of my 'Main' Steam account. While I'm

To address the logging in thing, Alfred did mention this: "- currently
steamcmd requires a steam login to perform an update, we plan on adding a
no-login mode in the future for free to download titles."

SteamCMD so far is a big failure on Linux. The Linux version of the tool
recently had the MS Windows characters in it which is ridiculous. As a user I
had to guess what this tool meant to download server files.

Most of the dedicated servers are free and have no restrictions on that (If
you do not own CSS, you can still download the dedicated server for it)..
The log-in requirement for CS:GO is going to expire as it moves out of beta

For paid games that have dedicated servers freely available, you _already_
can login with an empty steam account (check killing floor for instance -
appid 215350 or 215360).

- currently steamcmd requires a steam login to perform an update, we plan

So even in the future, if its a PAY 19.99 game you would still need a log-

There is some mis-understanding of the new steamcmd update tool happening here,
let me just clear things up:
- steamcmd is used for updating of dedicated servers using the new Steam Pipe
content system, newly released games on Steam use this system and older games
are being switched over.

As for "server" accounts, why not have a "hardlinked" server account to ones

download/update/run servers, and can have multiple logins. With that one
Yeah that's my main gripe with it. If you allow all accounts into the
system though you might aswell drop the requirement to login alltogether.
If we need to own the games to host servers at least allow simultanous
login to both SteamCMD and the desktop client.
I would like to hear why this is do

It wouldnt be so bad if for example, you could use it with any account.
For CSGO, its beta, so your account has to have access to it? Or am I
wrong, in which case, we might aswell all create new steam accounts for
server purposes.
