Option click the dropbox icon in the extras menu. they have since changed to a
new style menu so this is the way they decided for us that want the classic
menu to have it.

Hi Melissa, when you'd put the files in your dropbox folder, did you have the
mac app running? If not, then the files wouldn't have synced, so you wouldn't
be able to see them on your phone.

no error messages, just that I put the files in dropbox where I usually put
them on my mac, but when I try to pull them up on my phone, they aren't
showing. I'm using the latest dropbox on my phone, but maybe dropbox company
has an updated app that I'm not aware of. I might even try to reboot
Actually not true in all cases. I had to bring up a translation of my text to
read it to a class and so I put it in a dropbox folder, got to school, pulled
up the draft and read it. all from with in dropbox. no need for iTunes file
sharing.
Take care.

Actually all you should be able to do is launch the dropbox app in ios and you
should see your files. they will be on the server. to download them to your
phone double tap, then hit add to favorites. then and only then will the thing
download to yourphone.
Take care.

What error messages are you getting and can you give steps to reproduce. Also
what version of os and dropbox and ios are you running.
Thanks.

Usually the iPhone is synced with iTunes, not dropbox. I don't understand
the need for dropbox to be in the equation for iPhone syncing. Anything in
the dropbox folder is automatically uploaded to the dropbox cloud - you
don't have to initiate any action, it is automatic.

How is this done? I'm curious as I just got it myself not too long ago.

Ah you want selective synch.
go to the prefs of dropbox then advanced and uncheck the folders you won't want
on each device.
Not this is computer only. ios devices you are out of luck, but it does not
download anyways on the ios devices so you should be good to go.

Hi Sarah
you missed my point. DropBox is installed on 3 computers here using our
account and, therefore, the same E-Mail address. There are some folders we
don't want shared between all of the machines. That's my problem.

There are not prefs. just share the folder by right clicking the folder and
hitting share. You can then enter in an email address or 5 and uncheck if you
want the option that others have access to invite others to it.
Take care.

The only thing I cannot get to work at the moment is setting preferences for
shared folders once the app is running.
