You'd use telnet.
There are a few command-line mud clients, including one called muddle

Hello Nic
Obviously we cannot go into much detail regarding 10.8. But I've only ever seen
a kernel panic once and on that occasion there was a hardware cause; one of our
iPads had locked up and it was doing funny things to the USB interface. When we
tried to boot the Mac it went absolutely craz
Hi Lynne,
OS X can reboot about 15 seconds later if you set the option in the Energy
Saver preferences, however this feature seems to be the default under 10.8,
Mountain Lion, and cannot be changed. Kernel panics may cause the fan to whirl
a lot, but it's not going to matter because when your M
Hello Nic
I will top post here; so as to make it easy for you to quickly read my reply.
I don't claim to be anywhere close to your level of expertise when it comes to
the oS. But I have read that a "Kernel Panic" can cause high fan activity. I
agree with your description of a Kernel Panic in co
Hi Josh,
I doubt you have to worry. You may want to check the processes under
/Applications/Utilities/Activity Monitor, but in a lot of cases that single
process is the only one causing the fan to make that much noise. You can stop
it by disabling Spotlight using the Terminal and the following

I could hear it, I've never heard it that high before. But, as long as

advice, it's greatly appreciated!

Hi Lynne,
Depending on what application he used to play music (we'll assume iTunes,) some
processes in OS X sometimes run very resource-hungry tasks. One resource to
watch out for in particular is mdworker. What this stands for is Metadata
Server worker and it ensures that your files are Indexe
Hello Josh and Sarah
There are occasions where you can run into what I believe is a "Panic" at a
very low level. These "Panics" or "Kernel Panics" can cause symptoms such as
the fan speed increasing or hard drive access becoming sluggish.
In a lot of cases, you can help your Mac recover from th
possibility but that makes me feel better, :) thanks!

Oh no. Well I would not worry about it, but I'm on who really does not worry
much. lol! I would restart vo to make sure that's not it. My fan ran for 8
hours once and nothing happened to my mac. I think I was lucky. lol!
