Hi Alan,

For me, a restored card is worth at least 25% less than a card with the
defects you described. Why? Because I just don't trust restored cards. It's
difficult to say with certainty exactly how much was actually restored,
which brings in question the

I don't like paper backing at all. I feel that the process detracts from the
authenticity of a lobby card and I would be very reluctant to buy a card that
has been backed. Paper backed lobby cards just don't look right to me. Paper

Not at all.
The issue is replacement and painting of missing paper. That would be
restoration.
Conservation would just be de-acidifying the poster, and professionally
mounting it on acid free linen or paper, using archivally safe acid-free
materials, to prevent further damage resulting from
I'm with you, John, particularly when it comes to larger pieces. I've never
bought a paper backed poster for exactly the reasons you state.

Hi Adrian
That is true but quite a few auction houses actually recommend to clients that
they should get their posters or lobby cards paper backed or linen backed
before placing them in auction. The theory is that it might be worth getting
the item backed to achieve a better price. The auction
