Hey,
Currently, I have /home on a separate partition. Is it possible
to do a fresh installation, as opposed to an upgrade, without any
changes being made to /home? This way I can upgrade my system with-
out changing my users' files.

I have no idea what could be causing this -- any help would be

ow it works.
The only problem was that I had to boot with an old kernel because
I couldn't run mkinitrd (it wasn't installed) which caused some errors
at bootup.
But anyway, my computer boots up now. . .
But there are a few more problems. Please see Re: X upgrade problem
Thanks for your help!

.
However, the problem here is that lilo is nowhere to be found on
this filesystem.
Also, within the /boot/grub directory there is no install.sh script.
I believe my root partition is /dev/sda1 (I have a scsi hard
drive).
Please help!

e windows on it, but I can run
the "rescue" thing from the CD's lilo menu.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey,
Every time I attempt to install an RPM (with rpm-3.0.3-43mdk)
I get the following error:
only packages with major numbers <= 3 are supported by this version of RPM
error: gnomp3-0.1.6-1.i386.rpm cannot be installed

I think, therefor
only signal information, and not enough to
do any sufficent debugging.
Is this because the program was compiled without
debugging symbols? Much of my software is installed
from RPM or src.rpm files -- maybe these have debugging
symbols turned off by default?
Please help...

Why, when programs crash, do they leave a message saying "Segmentation fault"
and
not "Segmentation fault (core dumped)"? Crashing applications are not leaving

core dumps on my system.
