Hi all
have pulled out the Ovaltine container and it is manufactured by Novartis
Consumer Health Australasia. This could of course be owned by Nestle, but
they usually like to stick their logo on everything.
I copied this from part of the Nestle website:

I am not absolutely sure - however I think Ovaltine is owned by Nestle as
well. It's a really important social advocacy & public health issue
internationally and I believe strongly that all mdiwves need to be politically
aware & social advocates for the whole world.

I don't normally send these kind of e-mails but I think this is very
important for women's safety. Especially the stories at the end.

Dear Sally
There is discrimination at many levels in this field
For example how are negotiations in WA going for Fee for service for CMWA
midwives?
Why are Aust midwives not able to be offered what the doctors get for the
same service??

Do not walk behind me, for I may not
lead. Do not walk ahead of me,for I may not follow. Don't walk beside
me, either. Just leave me alone.
There are two theories to arguin
Vicki,
thanks for sharing this with us all. I think this is a very good motto for
much more than breastfeeding! a pity more women can't hear this said in a
supportive way for the whole business of giving birth and parenting!
well done for making such a difference to women within the system
Sally,
yes, this argument has been a key one made in all the lobbying being done
both at State and national levels by the Maternity Coalition and others.
We'll have to win out in the end...
regards Barb.

I really enjoyed the book too, and found particularly interesting the
passage about CTGs. I know that they increase the incidence of c/s, but I
didn't know that they are 40 - 60% INaccurate or, inaccurate 40 - 60% of
the time... how exactly can that be measured???

I have seen Naomi Wolf interviewed on numerous tv shows and I believe what
she said made a lot of sense.
I've read this book and really enjoyed it. I feel anybody pregnant or
planning to have a baby should read it.
I do remember disgreeing with something Naomi wrote about but it was so long
ago
Wow, I have a pretty active imagination & I can not
think of a single thing that would be more foul than
powdered eggs... no matter how much bacon, cheese, &
vege you throw in the omlette My sympathy :o)
