Wow - they have simplified switching the center post to being mounted
sideways. On the 3021 that I have the process of switching to the side
mount is fairly cumbersome, since you have to unscrew the center post,
reconfigure it to be side mounted, and then screw it back together.
When I broke
It would be great if someone made a K-A compatible extension tube that
includes a rotating tripod collar. Don't know if anything like that was
ever made for K mount.

That is my old setup - photo taken in 2006 with my old tripod and I
think an *ist-D. But you can see how the tripod collar rotates - in that
photo the mounting plate is perpendicular to the the b
