The *istD was only officially discontinued shortly before the K10D. It
was effectively discontinued long before that(especially outside the
US. I suspect Pentax US was sitting on a lot of stock that kept it
available there). I bought mine in Sept '06 on discontinuation sale
here in Canada.

* The problem I refer to is specific to Pentax US although, indeed,
Pentax does not manufacture K10D/K100D anymore it seems.
* Hoya may not have change anything yet but this may be a consequence
of Hoya changing som
Then again they dumped the *ist D just after the K10d was announced.
You could get one with an FA 28-80 for less than the cost of a DL body

Some things never change. I recall when Pentax let the *ist DS go out of
stock several months before they had the K100D and K10
And the Sony A200 is announced, with essentially the spec's I'm
expecting from the K200D (Barring the brand-specific like the Green

Thibouille,
Do you see this as a bad thing? It smells like money to me!
Suppose you were SONY going to introduce a new computer or INTEL a new
chip in early 2008.
Suppose you sold out of the old computer or chip at the end of the Holidays.
Wow, no old inventory to get rid of at discount pricing.

couple left if any.
Good luck to you !
