Stompem Ground 2000
Stompem Ground is the biggest and best indigenous festival in
Australia. It is held in Broome bi-annually and features the cream
of indigenous music as well as traditional Kimberley culture, plus
a weeklong festival of arts and even
Kevin Gilbert's "Inside Black Australia" is still in print (Penguin, "at
all good bookstores"). It's edited and introduced (riveting
introduction) by Gilbert, and contains a good selection of his
poetry, along with poems by Bobbi Sykes (!), Mudrooroo (!!), Ernie
Dingo (!!!), Hyllus Maris, Jac
The ABC has the most consistent coverage of Aboriginal issues.
I guess its like appointing Ruddock to be 'Reconciliation Minister'.
