The patch Jos gave to me works successfully, I can
compile rsync2.5.3 on Solaris5.5.1 and Solaris5.7.
Also, I don't see any error after I tried to run new
rsync between 5.5.1 and 5.8.

which is 14GB big it is not the filesystem or the name of the file because
it worked with ncftpget.
But that program has other problems that I will not mention here.

I received the following error on the client when testing the pre2 release.
I'm not sure what it means or if it helps. Rsync 2.6.9 runs the same backup
without error. I compiled rsync under cygwin CVS so it may be an issue
there as well. Server side did not crash. It did log an error, bu

Thanks for the reply, this version of rsync is going to be used by a group of people, I need to convince them that this is not a real error, do you have any document which talks about this rsync behavior ?

and assumed that the secrets file on the XP end caused this error.
Once I managed to find a user:group combination on the XP box that
