What I like so far about this book over the other ones - that I have
not read, but I have seen their ToC - is the scope which is decidedly
more limited. That makes it a better guidebook for the aspiring mapper
than the other two that are undoubtedly more comprehensive, but for
that reason also less
It is not the price that matters, but the freedom to derive translations.
what good is a book that we cannot translate. Why would you ever
translate your book to some obscure language, and then who would print
it?

- Once we did know we were writing a book, we decided that having an open
source, low-cost alternative to the existing $40+ books was a go
I get this problem too, seems to stick completely even over a day or two
until I clear the relevant cached data. Then it seems to be ok for me. As

Thanks for the kind words, Martijn.
One of the questions we have yet to answer is how we should distribute the

are a) likely to talk/blog about them (and thus OSM), b) not completely
aware of OSM, c) have limited internet

Great, absolutely great. I just ordered a hard copy but I see you have
a stash right there?! It would make an awesome welcome gift for new
OSM (-US) members. Welcome package: the book, an OSM surveying vest
and a list of 10 1-hour cleanup projects in your own area.
