The vboxvideo driver is shipped by Ubuntu; it's in the package
virtualbox-ose-guest-utils in the universe repo. I'm having this exact
problem with the Ubuntu-packaged driver, but compiling and installing
the guest additions provided by VirtualBox worked fine.

I don't think the first is really a bug; aptitude automatically fetches
recommended packages, which dwm happens to be. Try the following command
instead:
sudo aptitude --without-recommends install wmii

I'm running an up-to-date, minimal install of Ubuntu 7.10 (installed a
commandline system, then installed packages xorg, slim, & wmii)
I don't recall having any issues with the GNOME splash screen. I'm
pretty sure this is an issue with the Moodin KSplash engine, which GNOME
doesn't use. The package for Moodin is ksplash-engine-moodin, and here's

This behavior persists in Kubuntu Edgy (AMD64). There is no keyboard
shortcut for "Show hidden files" by default, but after adding one, I got
behavior identical to what the submitter described. Upon further
investigation, it appears Konqueror actually has two different options
that are both called
I think I figured out what he's talking about. Here's what I did (Edgy
AMD64, everything up-to-date):
1. Open system:/home/ in Konqueror
2. Right-click on a file (I used a small shell script; should work with
anything) -> Compress -> Compress as blahblah.tar.gz
3. Wait for a while before decidin
With more recent packages (Edgy and up-to-date Dapper), the forcedeth
driver actually works, so this isn't as necessary as it used to be. I'd
still prefer to use the nvnet driver, but it's no longer worth the extra
hassle to keep it up to date.

On Edgy (AMD64) with KDE 3..5 and Kate 2.5.5 (package version

The keyboard shortcuts for indent (CTRL+I) and unindent (CTRL+SHIFT+I)
work for me. I have a US English keyboard, though.
I don't have a menu entry labeled "Suppress Indentation" anywhere in the
Kate menu structure.
