Just had another batch of updates roll in, and was able to verify that
both aspects of the patch work as intended. The counter is now hidden
when there are no updates that are installable, and the progress bar

Very peculiar.
I managed to get my hands on a second machine with the same graphics
card, and it works fine (using the exact same monitor). Here's the

Apologies, my testing was via building the debian package from the
debian source files. I will be more specific in future.
I will test with latest tcpdump (also out-of-date, however latest
upstream is a feature release, so probably not suitable for Lucid) and
report it upstream if necessary.

I can't reproduce it reliably, but this is how it occurred the first
time:
Up-to-date lucid in virtualbox. Changed resolution and aspect ratio.
My workspace switcher was messed up, each workspace was double-width,
presumably because of the aspect ratio change.
