I also fortunately found the workaround to go to login.ubuntu.com to
create/update my account. This whole fiasco suggests that the concept of
"heat" in Launchpad bugs needs to be reevaluated. Bugs need to be easy
to enter and
aster 20 attempts I gave up and found and advice - go trough website
where is no captcha. However I was not able to use complex password to
create an account ... it was labelling me as bot.

This says so much about both Canonical and the open source development
community... a piece of software that is front and center to the (new,
especially) user experience has a flaw which prevents a very visible

I think this signup trick is made so that people can't login or create
any account because it is real confusing. You are given a try and
nothing you can achieve as it says the captcha doesnt match. I think
initiative should be taken so that everything can be alright. This is a

out various combinations and starting to wonder if I was messing up the
spacing or capitalization or something. The online login form is a great

A work around for this bug (although its insane that this should even be
needed) is to make an account at https://login.ubuntu.com/ as the main
site don't require a captcha. Both my wife and I could not get this
captcha to work and we tried about 15 times each which is insane for a
captcha.

additional information.
1. A comment on the duplicate bug report (Bug #1349123) suggests that
not putting a space between the two "words" is a workaround for this
problem. However, the workaround did not work for me.
2. Altho

I am usually not to bad with captchas but the registration with the
software center was way beyond everything I would consider to be
reasonable. I guess it took me over 15 attempts to get a single hit with
