@Sancho, you are describing a completely different issue. The
reader+adapter work with a 2GB card (no SDHC probably) but there are
issues with the 8GB SDHC card. Also this is not counting as a regression
if the 8GB card never worked in Linux before. Can you please open a new
bug. Thanks.

[Regr
I have a simmiliar problem.
Having 8GB microSDHC card from Nokia phone. The card works fine with 2
different phones.
When I plug it to the adapter for SD and into my reader, the system detects it:
[ 2554.266044] scsi 6:0:0:0: Direct-Access HP USB20 HS-COMBO 4.82
PQ: 0 ANSI: 0
[ 2554.4
Right, this rather sounds like something specific to a certain card and
not like a regression for Thinkpads as it seemed before. For the moment
I would close this now (as invalid as we do not have a unreproducible).
Should the problem come back, feel free to reopen it.

Unfortunately, I can't seem to reproduce this anymore. It seems to work
fine with the Karmic Alpha 2 live cd, and with Jaunty kernel
2.6.28-13.17.
I have tried with a bunch of 4gb SDHC cards, and 2gb SD cards. The only
one that is giving me a little grief is a cheap one that has a "Impact"
sticker
Marc, sure it will. In the meantime I finished the build of debug Jaunty kernel
(the same as the updates kernel but with mmc debug enabled). Those can be found
at: http://people.ubuntu.com/~smb/bug329424/
So installing one of this will get more debugging info on Jaunty.

[Regression] Thinkpad
Stefan,
Would a Karmic alpha 2 live cd be an adequate test for 2.6.30?
I'm not sure now my laptop would handle a mainline build...

@Marc, could you try the SD card with a 2.6.30 kernel
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds?
That way we could get a second data point. In the mean time I would prepare a
Jaunty kernel with mmc debugging enabled.

That rather sounds like a different problem. For Marc the module was
loaded and the problem was getting SD cards to work (SDHC cards seemed
to work). Yours was that the ricoh_mmc (the ridiculous driver that
disables the MMC controller in order to make mmc work) not loading. This
might be due to a d
I experienced this problem on a T61p.
BUT the moment I did modprobe -r ricoh_mmc the nautilus window with the card
contents opened up :)
(hope this helps to get around the problem by the time it is properly
fixed)

I'm using a PNY 2gb SD card. Don't have a 4gb to test with.

Curiously, it seems to work with 4.0GB SDHC cards, but not the 2GB SD
card I have.

Confirmed. After upgrading to 32bit Jaunty integrated SD reader on my
T61 stopped working. Worked fine with 8.10.
