I believe he is referring to not having a dial pad on the Apple Watch,
not the iPhone.

There is an app in the app store called watch keypad which mimics a
dial pad on the Apple Watch. I am not sure how accessible it is, but
if you are interested in a keypad on the watch, then you may want to
try this out in the short term until one is implemented.
