I agree that you should have the option to use command line. Even though I intensely dislike command line programming there are still a few things I do at the command prompt because it is faster and sometimes more reliable. I also use it to double check what the GUI did. I probably use "ipconfig /a

Check out the Linux website (http://www.linux.org/), it should have a list, here in the UK, most areas have a LUG (Linux User Group) that also has a mailing list very much like this one. The one here in Sussex also has regular meetings (ina pub, with wireless internet!) to chat to each other face
