Although XFree86 4.1.0 is supposed to have support for Trident
CyberBlade/XP, I just can't get it work. I've scoured these mai

I have xfree86 4.1.0 installed (binary-dist/slackware 8.0).
Is it safe to grab the sources for xfree86 4.1.0, compile it
and install it on top of the existing X installation?

the root window.

application, that makes sense: the root of the only window is of course the
desktop.
But what if I have an multi-windowed application, wit

Hello!
With Display/Login Managers such as KDM and GDM, one can select what type of
window manager that they want (e.g. KDE, Gnome, Afterstep, Fvwm, XFCE etc.
etc.).
Question is: How can I configure XDM such that I can select a window manager
on XDM startup (for both XFree 3.3.6 and 4.x.x)?
