(313) KMS confusion

2000-01-12 Thread Claus Eggers Sorensen
OK, I just got the new KMS. Matrix says 63X on the A side and 65 on the B
side. On the Submerge site the soundbite KMS-066 is called Smile with
Paris Grey but it's the same track as the B side. On the label of the B
side there's a Kenny Larkin track (remix of Good Life). I got an old
soundbite called KMS-063, it was on the Submerge site some while ago. Has
that been out yet? What was the last few releases on KMS? Have I missed out
on anything (OOHHH, GOD NO!?!)? Basically-wassup?
I guess they are just playing 'confuse-a-cat' as usual, but I just want to
make sure I'm in the loop...

peace

This is getting good. Does anybody know if Sony is hosting a party at WMC?

Might be worth the conference pass price just to walk in wearing a t-shirt
that says, Sony stole my track too.

The mind wanders...

Yes, Jon Santos is my hero!

Other excellent Santos designs can be seen on recent Twilight 76 records,
Cytrax 8 (detention), Crank's first album on Mille Plateaux, Low Res album
on Plug Research (and PR logo design), and many, many others.

Seth

Just wanted to let the list know that Detroit ex-patriate and ex-313 lister
(if I remember correctly) Jon Santos is featured as one of the FRESH Forty
Designers under Thirty in the JAN/FEB issue of I.D. (the American one,
not the UK one).

It's on page 71 and the article is entitled Uncommon Senses.

Way to go Jon!

P.S. His design for the Throw Record Too Many Clowns, Not Enough Jokers
is shown as well.

house...anyone know who Brett Dancer is? His tracks are sick!

I know that Brett Dancer is from New York, perhaps runs the
Trackmode label, and makes excellent funky style house with cool
chords and stuff. His last, Urban Visionary, was just a gem :)

Ok some other questions - What is Ben Simms like as a dj? He
and masters and work will be playing here soon, as well as CJ
Bolland which I'm sure i'll neglect to check out. I would love to
know how these ppl rate as performers.

There is a KMS-063 around with remixes of Good Life from Kenny
Larkin and Sean Deason but acoording to submerge it will never
be released. One side got a house version the other side has
electro-ish mix on it. Kevin turned the mixes down because he
didn't liked the EQ or something

one will never surface, because Kevin Saunderson rejected this one. There are
only a few white labels of this one floating around.

I'm lucky enough to have one - Kennys mix is amazing, deep but tough. This
mix is also on KMS066 so it'll still be available. Didn't realise Sean did
the other mix which I uh can't really remember much about as I just played
Kennys mix over and over.

Yes, lovely double pack of tribalness, complete with some nice fluid
jungle-like (as in in the jungle, not Jungle) interludes, plus nice
restrained use of live keys.
Love that tribal-scat vocal track, work really well when you bring a bass
beat right up behind it!
Sample of it on my website.

The Paris Grey track Smile won't be coming out officially. It's just a test
that Kevin decided to put out for the underground. Earlier he offered the
song to Scott Grooves to record but Scott didn't get back to him about it.

Kevin told me this himself when I asked him recently.
