Why hit ya privately? : These are legit topics! Chris Sattinger rules. I
think he's more concentrating on his IDM material nowadays. He's done a
pretty crazy release that I enjoy as Timeblind on Kit Clayton's Orthlorng
Musork (sp) label. I thought he put out something new last year around
DEMF time on Black Nation?

Changing subjects: If people had to pick between forevernevermore and
mahogany brown, which would you buy and why? Maybe this can be private to
me, since I know the rabidity of 313ers about KDJ.

Also, non 313 related... BMG's latest article in the metro times mentions
the Schematic people coming to Motor. Phoenicia live makes me go unf! but
Mr gillen fails to mention a date that this is happening. Anyone?

Once upon a time..there were people in Minneapolis doing some good
music.. People like DJ Slip..Chris Sattinger..and Woody Mc Bride.. I
wonder what happened to these cats..Communique site be down.. Have
they all moved to dirty, low NYC and became superstar DJ's like Keoki?
 Any Minneapolis folks here?

Yes : it doesn't change the music
No : knowing that A is also B means that in the future, if I like the work
of A and I see a record of B, I will give it a try instead of just passing
it by... In general, mapping who does what is a great way of finding great
material, sometimes better understanding the work of a specific artist - I
know he's not strictly 313, but look at Beltram : Mentasm takes a completely
different dimension if you put it between Aonox and Places...

Forthcoming on Tresor

2000-11-23 Thread Tom Robbins
Just been talking to Tresor's PR man in the UK who read out their release
schedule for 2001 to me. It includes some pretty tasty-sounding morsels:

New albums from Suburban Knight, Drexciya and James Ruskin, new 12s from
Beltram K Hand.

T.B.C. are, apparently, new LPs from Neil Landstrumm, The Advent and T-1000
(the latter coming complete with comic book!)

That's all I know...

Cheers,
Tom

Alleviated Records has recently reactivated and is now being distributed by the
Brooklyn based label Track Mode Recordings.
Alleviated is proud to announce a proper release schedule with old and new
titles soon to be available! One of which Alleviated is
proud to present , the Symbiosis EP from Chicago Producer/DJ, Bernard Badie.
Bernard is back, with an Ep that every DJ enthusiast
of Deep House music would want to have. At least one copy of this piece
should be a part of any comprehensive collection. Bernard
teamed up with a couple of friends, Joe Hall and Clara McElroy on a tune
called, Oxygen, a really DEEP selection with 2 mixes for
your DJing, listening, and dancing pleasure. The track is very reminiscent of
OLD SCHOOL selections from the Windy City Chicago.
The original underground version is a bit more DJ friendly with a driving flow
and raw beats. Underground party atmospheres will be
the perfect place to put the needle on the groove (Hint!). With Club and Chart
hits like, What About Love? and Shine (to name
just a couple), the label Alleviated Records played a foundational role in the
development of the Dance Music scene that we
currently enjoy. There is a lot of history behind this imprint. The future
seems to be even brighter at this point.

Track Listing:

Side A:
1. Oxygen [5:38]

Side B:
1. Oxygen (Original Underground Version) [5:28]
2. Move To The Beat [5:16]

 mixed together
old blues and gospel with techno - would you have some names ?

Re: [313] Ibex and ID

2000-11-23 Thread DJ DMT

Got to say I'm highly impressed with the new
Planet E, Tony Olivierra under the name Ibex.
The a side, Oasis, is deep, perfectly orchestrated
strings and distant blended vox - don't miss!

On the special planet : E trip go find a mp3 of carl carig at fuse 16-7-2000
if you like carls (old) work you def. love to hear what he spins !!!

 Thomas Schumacher's new album, Electric
Avenue, is also really cool. So many different
styles. Ok some of them not to everyone's (or
my own) taste, but it's not often you hear this
much variety on a techno album. I like!

If it has 'good life' on it, it doesn't automatic make it a good album !)
Oke joke

Lastly, can anyone ID this track from a DJ Hell
set - vocal says north side boom, south side
boom, east side boom, west side boom (no
 laughing there Anya!!)

 cheers,

 Dan

Re: expo remixes

Tom Churchill
KRAFTWERK: Expo Remix (EMI Germany) double 12: Expo Remix (DJ Rolando
remix, Underground Resistance remix, UR Thought 3, UR Infiltrated mixes,
Francois K/Rob Rives mix, Orbital mix) (8896126)

Anyone bought it yet? I heard one of the UR mixes at the weekend and I
though it was pretty cool. Any more thoughts?
--

I bought the double pack last week (vinyl)and played two versions last
Saturday:

- Underground Resistance remix:
funky bass, bleepy sounds, backward loops,
around 134 BPM (I slowed it down by - 2.5).
Dimmed down electro voice mumbles about
a connection between Germany and Detroit.

- Francois K remix: slower (124 BPM), longer, cyclical,
'slap bass' programming, metalic percussive sounds,
a bit of an 80s techy feel enhanced by monotonous trigger sequence in 16s,
yet a production fit for the year 2000, while the German voice-over
gives the concept of the 21st Century a futuristic feel,
I'd call it the 'back to the future' version.

Those two versions do it for me, at different times of my set.

Cheers,

Hillegonda

does anyone know why Christian Smith added Solbakken to his last name and
moved to Sweeden?? I know he is from DC, so don't be trying to tell me that
he was always in sweeden. Tronic even used to be based in DC, and i have
the white label of their third release to prove it. complete with the
review sheet and all. just curiousi just think it seems kinda fake to
me. i would aske the same thing if juan moved to iceland and changed his
