At the very last minute we found out that they wanted us to DJ
at Gabe's our local bar. Since we didn't have time to line any
of the local heros up, I got to spin for nearly 2 hrs.

I've noticed that certain tracks always get a strong positive response;
in particular the Stalker by Detroit Grand Pubahs, and the first track
on XTrack/Todd Sine's Inode EP. The week before I saw an empty dance
floor fill up within a minute DJ Sneak's remix of The Chase by
Giorgio Moroder was dropped.

Anyone else want to share their 'money in the bank' tracks?

And more to the point when are Detroit Grand Pubah's dropping more tracks?
Paris' wacky persona is always a plus, but everything about DGPB tracks
is killer -- the beats, the sounds, the builds ...

One last thing on Prescription. No Prescription collection would be complete
without the stuff on Balance, which is more varied than the sound of
Prescription, but similar in spirit.

There is also a discog for this at Amazing Discoveries.

There's a discography at Amazing Discographies though, as Tristan points
out
below, a lot of them don't have song titles so it's not the most useful of
formats for a Prescription discography. My favourite is Put Your Hand In
My
Flame... one. I'd only heard the instrumental previous to hearing this on
a
Junior Vasquez tape, and thought he had got hold of a wicked accapella.
Though almost everything on Prescription (in its earlier Cajual distributed
incarnation) is essential (as Tristan says, every release has something on
it for you). The stuff with just Ron Trent (King Street incarnation) has
it's moments but the early Prescription is one of THE all time classic
labels of house music. My long overdue guide to classic records should
contain a Prescription section, I reckon. What is Chez Damier doing these
days (apart from a new Chuggles 12)?

Amazing Discographies is at:

http://ad.techno.org/generator.html

Jonny.

A lot of the Prescription records don't have titles
from what I can tell, and even the ones that do don't
always have song titles. Basically, there was a good
deal of redundancy in the earlier releases, like I
think I have about 6 or 7 versions of I Feel the
Rhythm spread out across the releases up through
maybe 111? 100-111 were the earlier releases, and
after that they seemed to get less redundant. That
said, there's something uniquely valuable on each of
the records that will make you want them all. I think
I have the entire catalog from when they were under
Cajual, but I'm really not sure. I get the feeling
there may not be a discog due to the lack of info on
 the records.

The Cajual website is still down, so no clarification
there. I'll try and piece together some Prescription
Essentials sooner or later. Can't promise it
 immediately though.

I will second this. I quite like the Southern Oupost stuff, but you may have
difficulty finding it in store ssince it's Australian. There's really good
electro from lesser-known artists up at http://www.mp3.com/station/313 But I
think the Southern Outpost stuff is most similar to what you're looking for.

they wanted to share with me about electro. I've really been
feeling The Advent's latest stuff, such as their Westsiders EP on
Electrix. I really like the electro with the deep dirty synths over
the computerish stuff with bleeps (although some of that is cool
too, like the song with the that is incorrect sample from Speak

At the house party I played about 4 -5 hours at last night, there were a lot
of tracks which got people moving after a lull in the energy on the dance
floor:

some memorables (a lot were from Detroit, a lot were from elsewhere):
dj rolando - the jaguar (derrik may rmx) --just bought it friday and
allready its working its magic

surgeon - waiting for me --one word--damn
fascinating rhythm (on plus 8) --presumably a reissue, since i got it a
month ago, but topsnonetheless
remainings III (drumcode 20.5) - either the d or the k mx will work with
any crowd diggingtechno

misjah on mankind (6? i think)
thewhole night went off,due in large part to all the excellent producers
whose records I'vebought.
