Re: [313] Real audio 2 CDR(was online mix track id)

2001-05-08 Thread Kevin Conrad
I just got done copying a real audio mix to wav for
burning to a CD. Under the Volume Control in the
system tray, I selected Option->Properties->Recording,
then selected Mixed Output and hit OK. I checked the
"Selecet" box under Mixed Output and used Soundforge
to record the wav file while the Real audio file was
playing. Hope this works for you too.

I've seen him spin once in Gent. His choice of records is very good but I
wasn't very impressed with his technique. Skills aren't all that important

himself.

Next month he's spinning in Rotterdam and I'm looking forward to it.

[313] [WTB] Geophone releases

2001-05-08 Thread Nuutti-Iivari Meriläinen

  Hullo All,

I'm really sorry to bother everyone, but living in a far, far off place
like Finland doesn't exactly give me an advantage in finding the records
that I want. I've scourged the net and found a few, but I'm still missing
more than half of Mike Parker's excellent Geophone releases. If anyone has
a copy they'd like to part with and/or know of a mail-order shop that
still has the following records, please contact me off-list.

GPH01 Trybet - ``Nautical''
GPH02 Mike Parker - ``Shakuhachi''
GPH04 Mike Parker - ``Voiceprint''
GPH05 Mike Parker - ``Drain Hum''

Re: [313] Jori Hulkkonen

2001-05-08 Thread stuffed bird
Indeed I am and will.

Jori is a great guy and a superb producer IMO. He has released a lot of stuff
which hardly ever leaves my crates.

His releases on F-Com are superb, but he has also released on other labels such
as Lumi Records (co-run by himself I believe) and Plump House (as Bobby
Forrester).
On F-Com his best releases for me are:

Let Me Luv You (as Jii Hoo), limited and pretty hard to find but there is a
release on a uk label as well.

Detach Yorself

And his latest with remixes of Let Me Luv You and Whsipers is da bomb.

He also released a great LP on the now defunct label of Cari Lekebush (forgot
the name): Finland 0 points.

I could give you a complete list of the releases I have, just gimme a yell.

Greetz,

RD

Re: [313] Marshall Jefferson

2001-05-08 Thread stuffed bird
True words by our man John. No Detroit without the Chicago posse as far as I'm
concerned.

Regarding Marshall Jefferson, I love his releases, and he has been there from
the very beginning, but when I heard him DJ a few weeks ago I was soo
disappointed. For two hours he played the most unbelievable cheap filtered
disco house you can imagine...
Big bummer I tell you...

Well, I'll keep on playing his records and avoid him as a DJ, easy enough I
think.

I believe that the name for this LP comes from the great "success" Finland
has had with EuroSong contests. That's usually the score the judges give
to the Finnish groups. :)

Hello all,

I hate to agree with Omar's message but this:

"I didnt see you complaining when people were sending
dumb snippets of just GOOFY stuff to the list."

...is s true. I think a lot of posts recently
(including my own) are pretty unoriginal. People just
rehash what has already been said... There isn't
really much point is there? I'm sure you all have work
to do... :)

My fave mixtape is the "Regression - Ratty Part 2"
tape "live at Sterns" (so it says:)... Not all rave,
some old warehouse stuff too... so "We are ie" is in
there... so what... The whole tape is breakbeat
central... I love Ratty, so don't mess, okay?

Later,
Nick:)

I can't understand why people make such a big deal out
of Mr H etc... Germany suffered a lot too... And made
a sincere apology afterwards...

Something Bush finds very difficult to do...

Anyway, we can't spend our lives hurting forever...
People have to move on... Humility is a small price to
pay...

[313] Chicago track ID

2001-05-08 Thread stuffed bird
Trainspotter Mac, have a go at this one:

It's a classic chicago track, typical late eighties drum trax, with a vox
throughout and a chorus:

'so let it be real, so let it be house'

There is also a sentence which has been sampled last year by both Trevor
Rockliffe (Mentor 001) and Jonzon - Veinmelter on Gigolo: 'we created a sound
called house but in some minds there still was doubt, we had to clear them'

Well, if you want to revel in the misery of our
forefathers forever, then that's up to you.
Personally, I had nothing to do with it. You can't
prejudice a nation because of the wrongs of one man
committed more than 50 years ago... That's racism
isn't it?

They always talk about the massacre of the Jews in the
war but what about the Turkish Massacre of the
Armenians years before? Besides it wasn't just the
Jews that were persecuted, the Nazis also murdered
homosexuals and people of other religious
organisations. There are more Nazi's in Scotland than
there are in Germany... Germany is not to blame, the
people of any country can be warm and loving or
hateful and selfish but individuals should not suffer
because of things that there brother has done... It is
your attitude that causes conflicts like the one in
Israel/Palistine at the moment...

And at this point the discussion regarding Bush, Moby & Ford may be
redirected to forums other than 313, please. I think you've got a lot of
those topics covered already. If you agree the best way of expressing it
is to send no reply at all to this message.

[313] dj dispute (sort of...)

2001-05-08 Thread D.E
Hello 313ers!

We had bad luck getting Derrick May to Sweden, another club offered more
money (buhuu) but now I would really need some input on the following dj´s
to replace mr May,

Kevin Saunderson (Isn´t it obvious :) )
DJ Bone
Funk D´Void
Blake Baxter

We had Claude Young last summer but I figure there´s no competition to him..
A kickass dj is what were looking for, playing techno/house with trixing and
mixing.. Club holds about 600 people.
