[313] Re: The Face magazine.
I just had a squiz through the latest The Face magazine (the one with David Beckham of Manchester United fame on the cover). There's also an article on Adelaide, Australia-based lable Dirty House Records. They describe their sound as Derrick Carter and Jeff Mills getting into a fight and then deciding to just get along (or something along those lines). Any thoughts? I was waiting for somebody to notice that!. I particulary like the 'yob chic' look happening in one of the photos down at the beach. DJ HMC has a Farmers Union Iced Coffee drink in his hands!. There is a combined Dirty House/Juice Records 12 coming out very soon which i think the article mentions. Re: [313] fanboy track ID
That's arguable. Voiteck or TD5 is an excellent techno producer - he played in Detroit at one stage. From what I heard it was rockin. Also Tim Jackiw is pretty sweet. I haven't heard any Souther Outpost yet but I'm sure it's good. And there are plenty of unknowns. Not to dismiss HMC - he's got some good stuff. I caught a DJ set from him last year when he toured with Voiteck - it was pretty good (pretty banging too). While we're on the topic, didn't Claude Young live in Adelaide for some years? When he played here last he had a reunion of sorts mid-set with (Aussie) Groove Terminator. -Dave --- Toby Frith [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: DJ HMC is Australia's finest export when it comes to House/Techno. Thanks, that was my party. (I was also the guy playing before I-F) He doesn't do live PA's outside of Holland, unfortunately. the Kitbuilders are playing at the next one, so be sure to come out for it! e [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I went to the boat party last night and was disappointed with Richie Hawtin. I hadn't heard him dj in a few years and I felt that what he was playing last night really bored me. There seemed to be little variation in the music; it almost sounded as if he was playing the same record all night - all percussion and no melody. There was one highlight for me however - Kraftwerk's Tour de France. Everyone else at the party seemed to like it though, as the atmosphere was great. Went to see I-F on Saturday night. What would be defined as Australian classic by HMC would be - - Southern Cross EP (Juice) - features LSD, Body Mechanics - 6AM (Undefined) - with 187 on the flip as already discusses - Out Of Order (Juice) - early 90's Juice, with influences of Edge of Motion and UR running rampant - Phreakin (Dirty House) - the first Dirt record, as already discussed - Life Support System (Juice) - the first Juice record in a lim. ed. 500 set which was later re-released on MusicMan Admittedly his more recent stuff hasn't really done it for me. [313] Electro + Win Area:One tix...
On this weeks edition of Equinox: Cryogenetic will be on the show this Wednesday. He is involved in a weekly nite called Freak-A-Zoids @ the Velvet Underground every Wed. (which takes a break this week, as Velvet has their monthly Fetish nite) in Toronto. Cryogenetic (aka Mitch) has been producing Electro since the mid 90's, and has just garnered some interest from DJ Godfather's and Brian Gillespie's label Twilight 76. Hopefully to release some of his material very soon. Also, I'll be giving away a pair of tickets to the Toronto stop of the Area:One festival. To win the tickets you have to be the 3rd caller whenever you hear a song played by one of the following artists headlining the festival: Moby, Carl Cox, The Orb, Rinocerose, Paul Oakencheese (remixes), or KEVIN SAUNDERSON (INNER CITY). Take a wild guess which artist you'll probably hear me play!?! Also on the bill is Carl Craig as Paperclip People performing live! I'll most likely give away the tickets between 10-10:30pm EST. You can tune in live on Wed. nite from 9pm-12am EST, or listen to the archived show till it's replaced by next week's show at: http://www.1Groove.com/show.php?s=equinox Cheers, G - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

[313] (don't hate me) gear fs
Hey all, sorry to bother you, but I am not a member of the tech-gear list, and I want to give my good friends of 313 a chance before I waste time with ebay. I'm moving out of michigan in 3 weeks, and I have a bunch of quirky gear for sale. Linn Drum w/ midi retrofit. My first piece of gear, this thing is absolutely badass. Has all the original chips, except for a weird but funky cabasa. This is such a great drum machine, with is individual outputs, panning, volume, for each sound. Problem is that this beast got dropped on its head a while back. The only real authorized Linn repair/modifier, Forat, quoted me as saying it could cost 100$ plus shipping to fix at the most. It's got a loose wire that's a bit messed up, and when you solder it back on, the linn will work, but can take 2-15 minutes to power up. These go from 400-550$ on ebay, so counting in repair costs, make a reasonable offer. It's in great shape other than the scratches it received when it dived off my rack. Ensoniq DP4+ fx processor. Top of the mid-range fx processors. It has 4 individual processors that can be arranged in any parallel or serial configuration. Good reverbs, weird modulations and delays, good compressors, weird nasty digital distortions. The problem here is that output 2 produces some strange intermittent white noise. It can be lessened or temporarily eliminated by playing with one of the knobs. Maybe some sort of electronics guru could quickly repair whatever sort of short is causing the noise. Since you can run fx in parallel, this unit is 3/4's perfectly functional, and the intermittant noise can be used creatively for very cool fx. It's got some rack scratches on the top and bottom. I'm asking 275$ for it. I've got a motu micro express midi interface in perfect shape. 1/2 rack space, works with mac and pc. 4in/6 out, plugs into the parallel port. 50$ I've got a 14U Peavey road rack. It's ugly, beat up, heavy, and bulky, but it has wicked rack spaces for all your gear needs. It has handles and wheels, so it might be nice for someone who isn't as frail as me. looking for 50$ - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
