I got the Charles Webster EP in front of me. The catalogue number is PF098[your life]. I also have the Moodymann EP cat. Number PF095 [don't you want my love]. Hope this helps. Greetings all, for those in the cleveland area, Lance still works at bent crayon on friday evening's, and sometimes saturday morning. John @ bent crayon is a walking encyclopedia of music as well. Cognition lost its syndication awhile ago, which is why you have not heard anything from that show lately. He is still doing a local show and running a local college station, which is what is taking most of his time these days. He has also been concentrating on his own music again. I got a promo cdr earlier in the year, he is doing dark ambient material. Lance McGannon praised it when it was making the rounds earlier in the year. Andrew will also have track on the next issue of Masstransfer. http://www.masstransfer.net/ I think he and Lance both ran into the same situation. You work your ass off at something because you love it, but you get very little financial reward. Time passes, you get burnt out and you need to start making money...blah blah blah... It is a shame for these lists because both of those guys contributed so much information. I think the level of education on the lists has gone down because of the fact that Lance and Andrew are not pointing out articles or giving 30 release discography info and reviews, followed by 5 artists who you should check out if you are into a similar sound. There are still people contributing, but it is not like it was. Either way, Andrew deserves props because he worked his ass off to bring this music to people who would not have heard it, and to better inform the people who already had. [313] I love used record shopping
So Groovetech is having this big sale, right? Well, I was really strapped for cash and decided to make some sacrafices in my CD collection and some vinyl too. I managed to get a good load down to the big used record store here in Minneapolis. While I was there I thought I'd look over their used vinyl. I needed an emotional lift (considering my cat just came out of surgery). I found a several old Relief records (bought Gene Farris' Erotic World) and some other junk which I didn't keep. Now in this store there are two seperate bins for 12 singles...I thought just as a last thing I'd check the older stuff just to see if anything slipped passed everyone. About ten records into the first row my eyes nearly dropped out of my head...I know my jaw hit the floor. There before me was a name I never thought I'd see in *this* town. Re: [313] carl craig remixes
S-Express - Theme From S'Express (Carl Craig Birthday Surprise Mix).mp3 found this by chance while browsing audiogalaxy just wondering if it was ever released and if so which label / ep? I've never seen this particular remix, but a few months ago I found the 'Carl Craig M.Bation Stroke Special mix' (ahem) on the Sexy label. On the label it says Promo 2, so perhaps that mix you found may have been Promo 1? Carl's remix basically loops the 'I've got the hots' bit of the vocal over a Throw-ish type beat. On the flip is a Tony De Vit mix, which is a pile of camel cack, as you'd expect. Otto I'm sure promo 1 has mixes by folk more comparable to De Vit than Carl Craig. Personally, I reckon this is one of his weakest mixes with the Ultramarine, Tori Amos, Dave Angel (try mixing it with Basement Jaxx's Set Yo Body Free, but keep an ambulance nearby), Incognito and Help Myself being my top 5. [313] RE: Tanaka Drive EP on Tresor
I agree with you Max. I waited for this release for a while, and I've been playing it quite a lot since. It wasn't what I expected from Fumiya, but there is definitely strong influences of his trrademark production and his close influences(Bicknell, Ho, Ruskin, and yourself Mr. Duley). Glad to hear that there is more people getting into this side of minimal tribal tech... there's many records out there that sound like this, but there is definitely an art in getting a quality vocal loop and intense percussion. Wasn't expecting the distorted percussion, but it adds a new flavour to the current sound that was done a few years ago. Well done Fumiya... can't wait to hear the LP! Also I haven't heard Unknown Possibilities Vol. 2 yet(slack and lack of resources). Any comments Max or someone?... d-JCB (Brendan Krotz) Konsept Events Cosmic_Lolie Productions I've had this for a couple of months (although my copy has Move EP written on it), along with his dbl. LP Unknown Possibility vol.2. I really like them both. Some of the tracks are a bit noisy but they are still really useable. Definitely for the deepest, darkest part of the night, these aren't hands in the air tracks. Some really interesting textures. I've been playing about half the tracks regularly. I believe both releases were originally going to come out on Torema, hence the odd catalogue numbers in the run out groove. Where did the releases between 9 and 16 go?!? The box set was 10/100 (new old matrix numbers, I guess). What were the Charles Webster, previous KDJ etc. releases down as? As always I find it hard to get 'em all into one list. so here's two of 'em with an extra each, and I didn't add the techno-bass list (K-1 has to fit in somewhere though). 313 house - Chez Damier / Give a Little Love D-Ha / Sublime Magic Juan Atkins and Dianne Lynn / Is This Real M-D-Emm / Get Acidic Seven Grand Housing Authority / The Question Moodymann / I Can't Kick This Feeling 313 techno -- Level A and DJ T-1000 / Love You More DJ K-1 / Metaphysica Octave One / Nationtime Missing Channel / Deadly Spell Drexciya / Clusters Underground Resistance / Jupiter Jazz And this leaves out many close calls (Casa, all of Aux, Big Fun/Good Life, Model 500, all of Gigi Galaxy, Plus 8, Reese, Beyond the Dance, that guy Deason, Particle Shower, Rob Hood, a ton of UR and Red Planet (particularly Particle Shower), Dedication to Joss, about 3 other TP tracks, and all those tracks since 1997 that I'm still breaking in :) phred - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
