That track is a real Marmite track - you either love it or you hate it :) I
think its top - the live track is so rough which is great as Hoods material
is always so clean and well produced.

Can anyone tell me any more about this line-up -
Room 1 - RED PLANET

Room 2 - PURE SCIENCE (5 hour set)
   AIDY WEST

Will this be a night of melodic Detroit Techno? What are these people like at
mixing? Would this be a better option than Lost with DJ Rush Robert Hood?
Afriend of mine is trying to convince me that Flux / UR is a better option than
Lost so I thought I'd put it to the experts ; )

[313] The mystery of The Martian?????

2001-08-14 Thread Stewart Caig
HI

Well I think I'm gonna check out the Red Planet night, but I've gotta admit to
being somewhat confused by the whole red planet thing. The Red Planet releases
have been credited to Will Thomas, have featured James Pennington, Eddie
Fowlkes and Juan Atkins and sound like they must be produced by Mike Banks
(something I had always assumed to be the case). There have been comments made
in the past by Cornelius Harris that suggests that There is no one Martian and
that Red Planet, like UR is made up of a number of operatives. So, my question
isjust who is DJ Red Planet There was a set at the UR party during the
DEMF that featured a strange named Red Planet DJ, who was this and is this the
same guy playing the London gig???

If its anything like the utter crap they've been playing out live lately, i
wouldn't be too concerned about it. they have to be one of the worst live
acts i've ever seen. pure crap.

2001-08-14 Thread Braden King
This album is fantastic. I've listened to it for about 4 or 5 days
straight now. It's really good. It's hilarious and has some great
electro tracks on it. Even if you don't like all the booty references,
at least pick it up for some of the electro tracks near the end.

As for the Pubahs live act, well, I believe most of what they do is for
fun. I saw them at Coachella and although the crowd wasn't into it (it
being 4pm and no one was really around) but I think if you saw them at a
small venue, late at night and the crowd was nice and drunk, then it
could really be a fun time. Not to mention that Paris is a really
friendly and laid back guy.

But, some people just don't like fun in their music. To each his own.

Braden

Not sure if it's on the LP in question, but I thought If Snow Was Black off
the Comin' from the
D: Blueprint comp was pretty cool. Kind of sinister, eerie sounding.. Maybe not
the greatest song
ever but it serves as an example of a more serious DGP cut..
