Re: [313] Name that disco tune
Chaka Khan forgotten name of the tune - but you should have no troubles finding it - the original is the best of course. In fact - search hard enough through the deep house pages - you can listen to her perform it live in between a Ron Hardy set at the Music box - doesn't get much better than that! happy listenin Rc on 29/7/02 7:35 AM, Andy Mitchell at [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > Can anyone tell me what disco tune Mike Clark sampled the vocal hook from > for his Agent X single on Planet E ("In The Morning")? > Thanks, > Andy > > > - > To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

The edge kinda has a shady atmosphere...I remember when I went and saw DJ T-1000 there 3 years ago the wharehouse part of the club got shut down in the middle of T-1000's set. They also made him stop spinning for 15minutes or so. i got the Sylvester 12" with (you make me feel) Mighty Real on it and Disco Heat on the B-side, and it fits in well with funky Detroit techno since it can be played at about 140BPM @ +8 speed. [313] MUST SEE: AAVIKO (chi, bos, nyc)
You absolutely, positively must go see Aavikko if you can at their upcoming dates in Chicago, Boston, and New York City. They are from Finland, on their first US tour. They played out west with Monopause and sold out in San Francisco. They didn't sell out here, but the crowd there was well and truly up for it. They are a three piece band -- two gentlemen on keyboards and a drummer -- he's a gentleman too. They use consumer grade keyboards -- the obscolescent toy keyboards in everyone's closet, to make a rocking amalgam of 60s film music, Surf, Eastern European Disco, and even a bit of Klezmer thrown in for good measure. It's been a long time since I've seen a live band really smoke live; as much as I like music made by mouse, there's a visceral thrill to people banging it out live. The rock solid drumming -- a mix of casio beats, mattel synsonics and electronic drums makes it even more groovy. To use one of those soundclash metaphors, it was like booker t jamming with kraftwerk, abba, and ennio morricone. In a way it's very synthetic music, but with a great sense of humor and very musical verve. Highly recommended. In Chicago, tomorrow night (7/28) they're playing at the Abbey Pub 3420 W Grace (at Elston) 7-30 Cambridge, MA TT The Bear's 8-1 New York, NY Knitting Factory w/VHS or Beta This is one show that Iowa City got and Detroit did not.
