Re: (313) downloading real audio?

2003-02-07 Thread Ivan Tomasevic

as i see it, this thing records ra file while you listen to it, right?

if that's the deal, i can already do that with my sound card, but i need
something to download ra files. i've tried StreamBox VCR, but it doesn't
seem to work on d-i-r-t-y.com.

i know that this was discussed earlier, but i've deleated all earlier
messages so i have to ask again.

how can i download real media file from the net? there are too many mixes
in real audio and i don't have time to listen to them (btw. check out
www.d-i-r-t-y.com . Suburban Knight, DJ Bone, DJ Assault, Scan 7,

"...a packed still enthusiastic crowd heard Clarke playing a largely old

Clarke's got one of those old techno school sets? A friend of mine has one
of those -- he stages wrestling matches in the playground sandbox between
the Little Juan and Little Kevin action figures. I want one (obviously).

(313) gassing on

2003-02-07 Thread Tom Robbins/Magic Feet
from www.skrufff.com:

Dave Clarke London Gig Disrupted by Tear Gas

Scores of clubbers were left coughing at last night's System event at
Propaganda, after a CS gas type substance percolated through the central
London club.

The incident happened around 11.30 pm as the techno weekly filled up
with revellers arriving for Dave Clarke's first London DJ set of the
year and led to a 20 minute break in music as security opened fire doors
to ventilate the premises and search for the source of the choking
fumes.

The first sign of something wrong came as numerous clubbers in the bar
area began coughing, though nobody appeared to be seriously adversely
affected throughout the entire period. Music was subsequently restored
and though some people left following the incident, a packed still
enthusiastic crowd heard Clarke playing a largely old techno school set.

FBI Seeks Hacker of eBay Users' Info

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - A hacker used a University of North Carolina computer
system to steal personal financial
information from eBay users, federal officials say.

Users of the Internet auction site complained to the FBI they received
fraudulent e-mails during the past week that
appeared to come from eBay, said Chris Swecker, who heads the FBI in North
Carolina.

The e-mails told recipients their accounts were suspended until they verified
some personal information - including
their credit card number and mother's maiden name. A link in the e-mail took
users to a Web page appearing to belong
to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

A hacker used a university computer server for at least two hours Sunday to
post the page before technicians shut it
 down, said spokeswoman Karin Steinbrenner.

The hacker does not appear to be a UNCC student or employee, Steinbrenner and
Swecker said.

Officials at eBay said they've noticed an increase in these fraudulent e-mails
since early 2002, spokesman Kevin
 Pursglove said.

``As fast as we can find them they disappear,'' he said.

By Monday, the page linked to the fake eBay e-mail had disappeared, and was
replaced by a Web site registered to a
Pennsylvania woman, who said she also had been the victim of identity theft
and that thieves also stole an
undisclosed amount of money from her bank account.

(313) Suburban Knight

2003-02-07 Thread Tom Robbins/Magic Feet
Here's the detail on that new album I mentioned recently:

Artist: Suburban Knight
Cat Number: PFG025 / PFG025CD
Title: My Sol Dark Direction
Barcode: 2LP - 505029413411-5
CD - 505029413422-1
Release date: 28th April 2003

Track listing:
Shape Shifter
Collaboration Alfa
Midnight Sunshine
True To The Game
Roundtable Chronicles
Art Of Stalking
Niagra Falls
Nocturbulus Behaviour

· The first ever full-length album from one of Detroit's most respected
techno producers.
· Suburban Knight has recorded for the worlds top two techno imprints -
Derrick May's Transmat & Mike Banks' Underground Resistance.
· Includes classic tracks never before released on CD.
· Suburban Knight will be touring at a club near you soon.

Peacefrog proudly present the first ever artist album from one of
Underground Resistance's most consistent & sought after foot soldiers. James
Pennington AKA the Suburban Knight has been heavily involved in the roots of
Detroit's most influential export since it's conception in the eighties.

Part of Kevin Saunderson's 'Inner City' when they had their two biggest hits
'Big Fun' & 'Good Life' James went on to record two classics for Derrick May
's fledgling Transmat label - 'The Groove' & 'Art Of Stalking'.

James' penchant for making dark & melodic techno soon lead him to the
infamous doors of Mike Banks & Jeff Mills' UR collective, where he was to
have arguably his biggest hit to date 'Nocturbulas Behaviour'. Since these
early days his releases have been less frequent than many of his peers, but
always timeless & crucial. 'My Sol Dark Direction' is an accumulation of 17
years worth of contributions to the world of dance music. A masterpiece of
house, techno & electronics, featuring time honoured classics & new
flawless productions. This is a must for anyone with the slightest interest
in dance music, an "essential lesson" in the history of house.

(313) Fw: CABARET VOLTAIRE - Ltd Edition 12" - Out 17th March 2003

2003-02-07 Thread Tom Robbins/Magic Feet

CABARET VOLTAIRE
'Nag Nag Nag' Richard H Kirk Mixes
Release Date: 17th March 2003

The Grey Area of Mute are set to release four brand new mixes of the Cabaret
Voltaire classic 'Nag Nag Nag' by Cabs founder member Richard H Kirk on the
17th of March.

Released on Special Limited Edition 12" vinyl only, the new mixes were
inspired by novamute's 2002 re-release of 'Nag Nag Nag', with remixes by
Akufen and Tiga & Zyntherius. Originally Richard decided to tinker with the
track for his own personal use, but was persuaded to include his # 4 mix on
the release last year. He has now allowed The Grey Area of Mute to release a
strictly limited edition 12" of all the mixes.

This is the first in a series of Cabaret Voltaire releases on Mute's Grey
Area and novamute labels throughout 2003. Forthcoming releases include:

A remix 12" of 'Yashar', with mixes by All Seeing I and Alter Ego, due for
release on novamute on the 5th of May.

A box set of rare and unreleased material "Methodology - The Attic Tapes
(1974-1978)" will be released on May 19th.

A DVD "Double Vision Presents Cabaret Voltaire" will be released on the 9th
of June.

Re: (313) production and mastering (Juan Atkins)

2003-02-07 Thread spw
Juan Atkins likes to use romplers, you can hear it in his music although he
does an exceptional job at it.
Romplers seem to have no problem achieving that smooth-Roland type sound.

Kevin Saunderson insisted on only using a real TR-808 back
in the techno heyday of the late 80's but that's a sound you
don't hear anymore, TR-808's are now associated with electro.

(313) track ID's/Derrick MAY

2003-02-07 Thread ao2019
Hey gang, due to the overwhelming responses (sike) from last time i
feel the need to ask again, anyone got track ids or tracklistings
for Derrick May at the DEMF and live at Fuse?

Anyways i'm a little sick of hearing about the skills/no skills/
computer/protools debate...you have run that issue to the
ground...Now tracks that Mayday has spun are more 313 than arguing
about a nonissue

And one more thing, I am looking for Jammin Gerald Factory Work on
Freak Mode out of Chicago, will trade or buy you a new car.
Thanks
And thanks to the person who id-ed the moodyman demf gig nice one.
