(313) Re:COBBLESTONE JAZZ (was) Some MUTEK news

2003-04-05 Thread diana potts

might I also add that I saw Coingutter perform while
I was in Montreal last month. Zer gut sounds if you
are into the experimental/soundscape niche. Incredibly
nice people too.
Hopefully MUTEK posse will do some of the
acoustic-elecronic (sp) performances in the basement
of the contemporary art museum, which has a space
specifically built for this kind of music-16 channels
and all. It was amazing to experience.
Montreal is an amazing city it looks as though
Mutek is shaping up nicely. If you can, check out HUB
records (connected to the Mutek posse) on Rue
St.Catherine and Atom Heart on Sherbrooke. They are
both with in walking distance of eachother. Atom
Heart's staff was exceptionally nice and helpful, but
alas Hub got most my money. Take the metro to the
Sherbrooke stop.

I've hear T. Raumschmiere in Berlin two months ago. I like some of his
records but hearing him live wasn't really impressive. He played som music
with sample guitars... and seamed to have focused most of his energy on
jumping around and climbing up and down the table :)

if mutek got their partial lineup already, wheres the lineup for
demf

come on step on it so i can buy a plane ticket or save up for a better
festival (not mutek)
id rather buy every artists cd and sit and listen to em than to see
them live and make my legs hurt after standing around for a few days.

Re: (313) Online record stores again!!

2003-04-05 Thread scotto
we had a record store here in e. lansing, mi. that closed recently.
vinyl addict, til recently had a store front, now it is an ebay estore.
also i suspect spin cycle will soon join : (
i know the mix factory is blowing stuff out for cheap and about out of
there.

we still have fbc (flat black circular) which doesn't specialize in any
one genre, but kind of covers them all, which i think has given it a sort of
longevity (25 yrs now). they do how every have great selections of
electronic music, hip hop, jazz, indie, punk, good ole' rock'n'roll.

which leads me to ask, where does everyone in detroit buy electro? i have
been to both record times with in the last month, and they had very little,
and it was most pretty common.
i have never been to neptune, but have been told it's an mad-net import type
store?
and melodies memories (my favorite down there) has that in lock down imo.

Temple records...I now have a 25% fill rate from them. I ordered about
a
year ago from them and got 1 of 2 records, and a couple of weeks ago I
orderd 2 more and got zero...that sucks, because the web page looks so
nice!
