The boy done good I reckon, I remember hearing a dub a long time ago, first time I've asked a DJ what the track was in a long time. I love his grimey sound and production, and what he talks about and the we he delivers it is a real break through for a UK rap artist, you can tell he doesn't want to be boxed in. Slsk is still up; however, you may have to dl the new version. I think they're up to 152 now. http://slsk.blogspot.com will keep you informed on slsk news, while http://www.slsknet.org/ will allow you to dl new versions and check the server status. The list of 313/slsk members I had up did not make the transition to the new server when I moved the site. I'll see if I can't dig up a backup of the page somewhere in the archives. The URL of the page is http://threeonethree.com/slsk.html. If anyone wants to be added, just email me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] *** BUT PLEASE TAKE THE (313) OUT OF THE SUBJECT LINE *** to avoid being filtered with the rest of the list mail. :) Matthew -Original Message- From: -Ryan [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, February 06, 2004 6:42 PM To: 313@hyperreal.org Subject: Re: (313) slsk usernames - Original Message - From: doris [EMAIL PROTECTED] anyway, one of our listmembers (i think matt mangold?) made a list of 313-slsk folks a while ago, i just can't remember the url. Really boring production with rhymes in his atypical voice and style. I know a bunch of indie kids who like both him and Matthew Dear, so I'm not terribly surprised. Speak for yrself. My three favorite hip-hop albums last year were Dizzee Rascal's _Boy In Da Corner_, Outkast's _The Love Below_, and the Viktor Vaughn album, in that order (followed closely by Dead Prez and the Danger Mouse Gemini on Def Jux). Rascal's production is stripped down but effective, and his vocal style is amazing. His lyrics remind me a little of Tricky. I think he and Dear would be an interesting combination, especially if Dear decided to do more of his vocal stuff. When it comes to micro-house, Dear's nowhere near the equal of, say, Villalobos, but his vocal stuff has lots of charm. I believe his album comes out shortly. It's been out for ages in the UK, and it came out in the US a couple weeks ago. I think this gig sounds like a ton of fun. I wish I could be there.
