patrick adams is good at doing 'silly tracks' that you fall in love with - how about bumblebee unlimited 'love bug'. a friend made me a mix tape with it on. and i've become a little obsessed with the track. when theo parrish was in australia recently, we jokingly were trying to get a friend to ask theo for a request, 'love bug'. even without asking he played it half an hour later! i played it at a party on the weekend - certainly made the crowd move. the best bit... when she gives her ladybug measurements -- '36, 37, 36', 'hhh baby baby'. james www.jbucknell.com Matt MacQueen [EMAIL PROTECTED] .com To Alex Bond [EMAIL PROTECTED], 15/06/04 06:23 PM 313 313@hyperreal.org cc Subject Re: (313) Playlist WNUR Chicago: 11 June 2004 - download it On Jun 15, 2004, at 9:01 AM, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Universal Robot Band - Footsteps On The Roof - Freak In The Light of the Moon (Red Greg) 1978 ooh. Re: (313) CJAM 91.5 Windsor - Movement Main Stage MP3 archives
I don't think it's that much of a mess... just for your infos, Francois K's set begins in the last 5 mins of the file dated 30 May, 21:39 and spans over the subsequent 3 files (ie into the file dated 31 May 00:39) for the next day, if you download the 5 files from 31 May 20:39 to 1 June 00:38 you'll get the last bit of Electrofunk and then Kevin Saunderson and then Rolando. The sound files concatenate perfectly and so it's not a great drama to re-edit them in soundforge etc so you get complete sets. I've only heard a bit of each of the sets and they sound well worth the effort! Microworld album on transmat is faaantastic!!! Minto told us it was great, so my buddy Dan picked it up at the Festival that day. We listened to it in the hotel room that evening (goes well with whiskey and cokes). Next day I picked up my own copy at festival. Following day I told another friend it was great, so he picked up a copy as well. We listened to it a couple times on the drive back home after movement. My favorite tune is DB. So catchy, smooth, and beautiful! Also, is that a Talking Heads sample in the song TV?? Exotica is lovely as well, great work! Will this be released on vinyl? Making us WORK! I brought that issue up also, about a month ago I think. Transmat seems to have some deal with Cisco records in Japan to distribute their music (at least the CDs). However, that means that they get released primarily in Japan or imported to the US/UK with huge import fees added. Is the Japanese fanbase bigger or more likely to buy? Then again it comes with all the cool looking Japanese text and maybe those nifty Obi strips (although on CDs they're more like folded pieces of paper). Ok - let me get this straight then. Lenny and Lawrence have stopped performing as RNG (the Mills DVD is supposed to be their final performance) and Lance has taken over all production? Well they're pretty nuts about detroit techno (any Japanese listmembers on 313 want to chime in?) It's all about money for the label, and the distribution.. and wait, before I get jumped: I don't mean that in a bad or insulting way either. i mean in the past with Detroit Techno getting global exposure, it was the UK and Belgium (Network Buzz labels respectively, later RS too, also Tresor/Hardwax) who worked deals to license or publish or distribute Detroit artists that were outside of Detroit. Now Japan is taking interest.. and actually has for some time now. If you are a detroit label and someone wanted to help you put out a whole mess of your music and pay you nicely for it... I can see it's an attractive model to someone like Transmat who has a really great reputation for music but not always the best mechanisms for stock dissemination, exposure, pressings, CDs, etc. etc. I'm just happy there's so much new music coming out... looking forward to that Microworld too.. Hi Michael, Where did you get the information below that Lance is taking over main productgion/performance of RNG. Just curious... I haven't seen the Mills DVD as I've been buying too much equiment that my Record budget has been a bit low if non existant lately. We havne't really heard from Lance much since he stopped being the older Submariner from Submerge. Good to hear that he's back in the game, but it's interesting that Lenny would be stepping down as the main production/performance person of RNG. Especially when I just saw a post from him on another list, talking about their recent European performances. Also, there are a lot of alias that these talented folk have recorded under, various different names on the 430west/Direct Beat labels. One of my most memorable Live moments, was the Octave One appearance at their 10 year anniversary party at the first DEMF. RE: (313) DEEEEE-TROIT Basketball
Was like New Year's or Beirut near my house, with guns and firecrackers going off all around. Awesome night for Detroit tho. Those guys were playing so well I almost wish it weren't over. There's a parade from Chene Park to Hart Plaza tomorrow at noon. Should be a blast as long as it doesn't rain. Maybe they'll have a techno float--Love Parade style! Following on to those successes, he established his own imprint, Palette, in Los Angeles, in 1996, and has enjoyed seven years of steady growth and recognition. RE: (313) stuff
That would explain the Transmat, but I was in Japan last month and Cisco also had brand spankin new reissues of the first Planet E Designer Music 12. They were 2500 Yen (Around $25 US), and I assumed they were in line with the other 69 reissues. But I havent heard anything about the Designer Music back here in the states since then.. Anyone know about that one? The Cisco guy thought they may be over here later this year, but I got the impression he was just guessing. pete Transmat didn't have a worldwide distribution deal with anyone until Submerge picked them up- these CDs are through Cisco and I'm assuming that the deal for these had already been worked out before the Submerge thing kicked in cheers Jason

Re: (313) you listen to techno?
[EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: ...just started working with my current employer about a month ago. desk job, cubicle, plenty o' coffee. anyway, there's a fairly relaxed policy towards music in cubicles. as a result, i spend most of my 8hrs. with great house and techno pumpin' out of my little PC speakers. naturally, this being suburban america, i am the only commuter listening to the music of this list for about 60 miles in all directions. i get my fair share of raised eyebrows and cheeky comments from co-workers that are not familiar with my weird bass music. i'm all alone in a sea of alarmist talk radio, and toby keith anthems. i'm just curious if any other list-members are immersed in a similar environment. cheers, lrh I also work in a cublicle based job. Im a unix geek, but I do listen to techno at work sometimes I get comments like turn it off or turn it down .. other times when I'm listening to more minimal stuff I get comments like if you wanted modem chatter I couldve recorded myself dialing up to aol at night and sold it to you for cheaper than what you paid for that cd. *lol*. Anyway its a pretty intresting place and I try to use headphones to help me focus on my work and sometimes I do have to answer the phone so I have the headphones in cue mode (one on one off). Today I listened to Sasha's Involver and got no complaints .. hmm intresting. :) Great topic btw! Regards, Ramon
