hey list.
Im heading off to Dublin soon (from sydney) and will be staying for atleast
1 year.
Ive just travelled Australia for around 10 months and i badly missed my
decks, so there is no way im not taking them to Ireland with me.
I was just wondering if anyone new an approx. cost of shipping decks? What
do they weigh? (technics1210's)
peace

ps Michael Mayer was in sydney last week - very average set. ive definately
heard him play better.
And herbert was in town the following night - he was sweet. he rocked it as

it's no secret turntables weigh a lot - so postage is going to be
expensive. that rules out air mail and means you'll have to go with surface
mail. it'll still cost quite a bit and will take a couple of months to
arrive.
probably best to try and take them with you on the flight as checked
luggage. i know people who have done this, worked for them.
sorry to see you're leaving us, ed. but can't say i blame you. have a great

I dunno Cyclone, I might have to disagree with you here! While there
isn't much of a directly 313-related scene, Canberra has a very small
but tight underground that comprises lots of different elements of
underground music.

I played at a party at the art school down there last October and it
was pretty solid - there were three rooms, one with bands, one with DJs
playing lots of different styles from jungle/dnb to minimal tech to
freaked-out house and so on and then there was an experimental room with
all kinds of interesting live performances. There's quite a lot of
producers in and around Canberra - including some world-class talent -
though a couple of the guys who've really helped push alternative music
have recently moved out of town.

Because there's so few people into anything but mainstream choons, they
all band together and so you get much more diversity in styles at the
alternative parties - when Jeff Mills played Canberra recently he was
supported by DJs spinning House, Broken Beat and Electro, and
consequently delivered a set that was much more diverse than his other
Aus outings, more in line with his recent tour with Garnier than the
straight-up tech we got in Sydney (not that I'm complaining!).

There might not be a million parties every single week, or month, in
Canberra, but there's a good grassroots community of passionate peeps
down there that you'll probably get on quite well with. Lemme know when
you're going and I'll hook you up with some heads.

Yeah, Philip McGarva (Microworld) lives in Canberra. He's usually
floating around on this list. He has been a bit quiet lately though.

Sam Karmel is another Canberra based 313'er who could let you know
what's up in Canberra.

Your best bet would be to surf www.inthemix.com.au and check-out the forums.

FANG used to do regular parties in Canberra, but they've now moved to
Melbourne (although they did go back to promote Jeff Mills' gig in Canberra
recently). There are other events in Canberra, but AFAIK they're one-offs.
Look for a guy called 'Calico' on the InTheMix site and maybe

I have it on prime records

so the story goes Placid I presume the 12 on prime that was called
thomas barnetts nude photo?

I used to have that one too.

yes, anyway, he has a new record out which I thought may be of interest to
the 313.

It's boring here today. Hows about you tell us a story Placid?
You know, like my mum used to.
I'm sitting comfortably, so you may begin. (us viewers may not get that
bit)

Hows about:

a) How I tracked down the Clarence G record, the War Peace 26 volume
re-edit by Paul.P.Acid

or...

b) My bum fun at Chicago's warehouse by Placid Angles and the
rectroscopes?

If I was a publisher, I'd give you a handsome advance for either.
I'm not though. so never mind. your ship will come in one day Placid.

Get them fully insured if you can - things like Technics turntables go
missing or get busted up in transit. That way if something happens you can
get the money to buy a new one.

it's no secret turntables weigh a lot - so postage is going to be
expensive. that rules out air mail and means you'll have to go with surface

All the 'chat' on here today is killing me.

ok, in that case I shall pitch in with some new stuff that I've been sent:

Delano Smith on Still Music - pretty nice IMO, particularly the Jimpster Remix

Marco Passarani LP on Peacefrog - some wicked tracks on this - goosebumps while
at work for some of these yesterday

Miss Kitten on Novamute - Was expecting electroclashesque (new word?) business,
but actually OK + the Marco Passarani and LFO mixes good. LFO mix in particular

Other stuff too but can't remember at the moment.

Ha, Sean, you crack me up!
I just like taking an actor or director and watching their work back to back

(313) Soldier Rolando no longer with UR

2005-02-08 Thread Rebelbass/bookings

DJ Rolando PRESS RELEASE

After 10 years of loyal service as a Underground Resistance member Rolando
is no longer an 'active soldier' in the UR camp. Due to unforeseen and sadly
irreconcilable differences in respect of his partners in the Los Hermanos
label - Rolando will make no further recordings with Los Hermanos and is
seeking to amicably dissolve his partnership.    In response to the numerous
enquiries by fans (and to avoid their disappointment) we wish to make it
clear that Rolando will not be taking part in the current live tour with the
band Los Hermanos.   Rolando has spent the last few months buried in the
studio recording new material and is looking to create more diverse and
creative relationships in future recordings and collaborations. He wishes to
thank all of those who have supported him in taking this brave step forward
to a new phase and he thanks them for their faith and encouragement in
making this possible.

2005-02-08 Thread Rebelbass/bookings
I've heard that it started in december last year. there were no credits for
Rolando's music on the Los Hermanos album wich appeared in december last
year. he worked for several months in his studio for this album. On the
album 'on another level' was written: all tracks by Gerald Mitchel. The band
los hermanos is NOT rolando. these are the people who are involved:
santiago, gerald mitchell, mike banks, and frankie 3000. Suburban Knight as
dj. Mike Banks is the publisher of Los Hermanos. It was also Mike who formed
the band Los hermanos. Rolando was not involved by the forming of this band.
When he asked he was told: the label is from UR not from you.

It looks like Rolando has been ripped by his own brothers...?

it looks to me like that.
