Yes!

Indeed, it does sound like D.May.

I think if anyone asked me to describe it, I'd say - it sounds like rhythm
is rhythm, icon. not as in its an identical sound, but more that it's
dripping with emotion that comes across instantly

makes me wanna cry that track.

it's called Night On The Promenade, and yes indeed as Stewart mentions,
it's on the forthcoming ART reocrds compilation which is titled The
Electric Institute

ta-da.

I don't have loads of Ian O Brien stuff btw, but this new track he did with
Kirk is deffo my favourite track I've heard him do. Not that I'm biased in

2005-03-10 Thread fab.
yesterday i got the Minimise to Maximise 3lp on Minus - it seems like it's
all new material so that's good; i havent listened to it yet, apart from
when i was in the shop, but i got it for the Mathew Jonson track alone, and
i was also quite partial to the marc houle track that sounded like DBX for
Nintendo.
not all of it this release to my liking, but like i said, its got all new
content so i felt it was an important addition to my collection

last week i got:
- Receptor - Countdown for Eliza on Plong records. although i dont know the
plong label well at all, this seems to be a departure from their usual
output. this is delicate glitchy ambient techno of the finest sort. i like
receptor very much.
- Donato Dozzy - destination eskimo on new roman label Elettronica Romana.
Takes my back to the early 90s since it reminds me of when techno and trance
hadnt been separated yet. But its not retro
- Damon Wild - Smoked Grooves ep on Pseudo records. first track is standard
damon wild tech-house stuff, but the other tracks are slower, more listening
techno that is nice and dark and sinister.

and a few weeks ago i order from Emporium50: first of all want to confirm
everyones opinions about Big50's online record shop - good website, speedy
delivery and excellent service, and it helps that the euro is stronger than
the dollar (exchange rate-ly speaking of course)

this is what i got:
End to End 005 - Marty Bonds - (EVA) Extra Vehicular Activity
MoodsGrooves 005 - Kenny Dixon jr - Untitled
MoodsGrooves 028 - Andrè Lodemann - E-movement
Surveillance Records 001 - DFA- Microstructural Characterization
Psychostasia 006 - Reggie Dokes - Kemetic ep

but now im all horny to hear Sleeparchive 003, the latest Hieroglyphic Being
on Spectral and Jason's reccommendation on that Out to Lunch release

I was at that lost and thought May was excellent. Strings of life
at the end was wicked. But FK just dont do it for me when he plays
techno.

That's odd, coz I thought May was far too banging! Horses for
courses!

I loved the way FK played bits of different styles of techno/house,
tempo up and down, different textures thrown in etc. Mind you I was
fairly refreshed so my memory could be lying to me!

cheers,

Hold on, I'm not a VIP! I'm simply (un)fortunate enough to know a
couple of folk who can sort it out when there's a special DJ I can be
arsed to check out. Consequently, I hardly ever go there.

My advice on Fabric is to simply not go there - it's not that great.
Unless you're on a serious music mission or a night out with mates,
Fabric's the last place I would go.

cheers,

andrew.

It's just round the corner from my gaff, but no - it's not the kind of place
where anyone is going to know who Saunderson is, let alone appreciate his music
- it's a bit of a meat market and drinks cost an arm and a leg.
Not too fussed about hearing Saunderson anyway, though it seems a bit wrong to
pass up the chance to hear one of the Belleville Three spinning in your local.

Yeah, I've never been to Plan B, wondered what it was like, like.

Bit of a meat market? Thought you'd be well in there Rob. ;-)

It's exactly as you say, the sheer novelty of hearing KMS in a bar in
Brixton! Unfortunately I've just discovered I have to play at a
party, so no go for me either. I'm sure Kevin will get over it.

Cheers,

Andrew
