As a DJ? Huck's really good, one of my three or four favorites from the D, not flashy but very very consistent, reads the floor well, keeps the pace up and changes the style frequently, and you can always count on at least a couple classic acid trax :) But he's not stuck in any one style or era. - fred

that's right, juan and rick davis were just biting some australian group! I was looking through some record at lunch and came across a record by an australian duo named cybotron. it's titled 'sunday night at the total theatre melbourne' from 1976. The cover shows two bearded dudes with massive piles of analogue gear. a very impressive pile. i couldn't listen to the record so i have no idea what it sounds like. looks like it's 70s psychelidic electronica. hjere's a link: http://www.innercitysound.com.au/Cybotron.html james www.jbucknell.com

I can't believe how negative the press is in Detroit! The writers are very respectable and know their stuff more than elsewhere - it's the tone that surprises me. I see the writers' dilemma - but by exposing all the business they're ultimately scaring off any investment. http://www.freep.com/entertainment/music/fest13e_20050413.htm
Re: (313) Festival goes for $5 fee
it may be (not very far) below the surface, but that's how negative detroit is. and suspect debt is something the detroit press seems to love. Go on, you know you want to visit Scotland ;-) Well I just have - and I did last year too. On that occasion I attended the gig you mention above (as it was a Glasshouse Transmissions night and not part of Triptych but a month earlier, when I was up there). Yes it was cracking. (313) Curtis Story Pt1 (Was: has anyone seen this?)
I'm pretty sure that link was posted already a week or so ago as well. Funny stuff. I like the magda makes the tea joint. S I'm following up a lead from a friend of mine about this guy that has records. I call him, follow directions to his place (rented out guest shack in the west end) and go inside. This dude is sitting in a room with a table, decks, a rolling tray, a tv and a couch. That's it. The rest of the house was records. No joke, I mean like there were paths to walk amongst them, but that's all the available space. So, I'm feeling good about this when he says to me, everything down here is $1. WORD. I'm really feeling him now. So I grab a few classics I could use (funkadelic - knee deep pts.12 - casablanca, parliament - water sign 12, bootsy - vanish in our sleep, grace jones - party girl (extended 12mix), etc. etc. ). Then I stumbled onto LFO - advanced - on warp from 96 (always thought the ambient tracks on this LP were superdope, but the techno sucks bd). Then I went upstairs. Dub for Days (OMFG!!!). He saw I was into dub and we talked about niyabhingi music, then h! e whipped out a fathead of some lambsbread and started putting on 45's... for like the next four hours. Version after version. Really, REALLY psychedelic bass dub. I have a new favorite record shop now and his name is Curtis. I think I would rather have kicked it with curtis for those hours than to see the german version in NY which I was considering travelling for. Just thought I'd share. And who was it that I was looking for that new order on streetwise for? Confusion? Curtis is pretty sure he's got one. I gotta dig for it though. Whoever it was, holla. I'm going back in a week. Drinking: water from the cooler Eating: banana Listening: 13god - afterclap Thinking: I wonder if she thinks about me too... I wonder if it's at the same time?... Kamal K. Oh sorry, I guess it was kinda...well. Yeah. Uh there's this label ann aimee. They have a running story to the label and every release was treated like a new mission. I really got into the story of it all and haven't visited the site in awhile to read it. I went back and the last entry was done hella long ago. I know marcel at least is involved in some way and thought I would enquire as to why. I apologise for the confusing post. It really made all the sense in the world to me too.
