Re: (313) italo reissues
i like the hype. it just depends on where you stand yourself. it gives me the oportunity to sell one record and buy 20 instead. don't start bashing the music though because of what you think are stupid prices. true, prices for some hyped italo recs have gone up 10x in the last year. but italo has some of the highest prices for dance records for many years now. has to do with the very small labels, with fans buyers being in their 40s well settled and with the utter originality of some of the tunes. i won't hold on to many of them now, after i'm through this phase, but some are genius and will stay with me. for me minimalism is the real kitsch / cheese these days.
RE: (313) italo reissues
for me minimalism is the real kitsch / cheese these days. For real. And has been for years now. But just like everything else, it's the gems that skate along under the format radar that make any genre worth the dough though isn't it? I wouldn't waste too much time worrying about the dodgier acts, as that's not what I want to see/hear/buy anyway. Take heatwave, that's an italo tune to be proud of...and it's super cheesball too, but not as much as say, burn it up (on risque as well). Like them both though. And even though the self aggrandizing, insular, minimal snoozefest is the main reason I don't bother with most netlabels and german anything these days, there are the one's that manage to squeak and snip they're way into my head for a few rounds of repetetive memory passes... like the new baby ford- very ep on pal sl. Stupid wobbly bubbly jacking stuff that keeps reminding me that no matter what the fakers do, there's realness out there. That souljazz comp microsolutions to megaproblems does a ***GOOD*** job of sorting the wheat from the chaff (and putting it in context) if your BS patience hasn't lvld up enuff to survive digging yet. The shortcomings are due to the producer, not the format. Just concentrate on what you love and ignore what you don't. off to lunch. Bad luck story of the year: I put my car in the shop for a transmission rebuild job that's got me broke as a joke. The next day a lightning storm hits my computer and blows the proc/motherboard. I still haven't been able to steady my hand enough to test my hard drives as my backup drive was connected at the time. If the drives were affected...**hand shakes uncontrollably**. Life's weird. I need an UPS. Kamal K. Stoddard Turner Broadcasting Systems
