Garrett,

It would be important for some of us to be able to download these mixes
due to various reasons. For me, part of it is, that at my work mp3
content is filtered at the firewall, regardless of the transport that
its delivered by.

So my option is to listen to it at home. But, I don't really have the
time to sit down and listen to it when I'm at home (as much as I would
like to).

The way I've been listening to the mixes is that I download it at home
to my laptop and then when I'm at work, I listen to it while I work.
I've listened to the mixes a few times now.

Also, if I'd listened to the two previous shows straight off your web
server, that would have meant that it would have been the equivalent of
about 600MB downloaded, just for one person. But since I've downloaded
it to my laptop, its only been 150MB. A saving of bandwidth for both you
and me.

Another problem I have with streaming off webservers (depending on
capacity, network conjestion, etc) is that quite often the stream will
play, then buffer, then play for another 30 seconds, then buffer,
lather, rinse, repeat. ;-) It really makes it hard to enjoy something,
no matter how good it is.

A message from DJ Bone...

First of all, I just want to thank those of you who listen to and support DJ
BONE and Subject Detroit. Real recognizes real. My intention was to have this
show be a weekly moment in time. Once the moment us gone, so is the mix. I am
not upset at any who downloaded or continue to download these mixes as long as
you represent me and my art in true underground fashion. Do what you do and I
will keep doing what I do. Electronic music has forgotten it's roots but I

wanting the mix to be only available during a given week does not

Sooo, I can get this on my iPod how?

Or are we all supposed to use our computers to have weekly solo dance

Or am I supposed to just wait until Bone plays at a local club?

I, too, am curious about the motives for the change. My guess is
that those involved would like to see an mp3 file that autodestructs

This reminds me of the last time Stacey played at 177 Townsend
(now gone in the wake of the ballpark redevelopment) -- he
must be thinking this is what will go down with a big club crowd
in San Francisco, because we know he's capable of playing so
much better,

Stacey was also at a King St Garage event a while back
(King St is also gone, it was attached to the back of 177 Townsend
and had the most obnoxious bouncers I've ever seen), and played
pretty well, but then Derrick May came up and played the most
awful set of hard house.

It's true, San Francisco used to have a much more discriminating
club crowd, but I really wish the out-of-towners would challenge
them more. It does happen from time to time -- at different times
I heard Richie Hawtin and Kruder Dorfmeister play quite good
sets at 1015. But let's face it, things are really dire in Club Land
these days.

ASHEVILLE, N.C. . August 21, 2005 . Bob died this afternoon at his home
in Asheville, N.C. He was 71. Bob was diagnosed with brain cancer
(glioblastoma multiforme or GBM) in late April 2005. He had received

Hey all. I did a mix for my girlfriend's birthday which she's opted to
share with the world. It's my stab at putting down a bunch of tracks that I
figured she liked, that she didn't already have, and some of it's a bit
unusual for my mixes (i.e. more disco than you'd usually get). It's got
Rob's tune of the Summer in it to boot.

I'm having a little trouble understanding how a stream of
really nasty personal invective got started in a dispute

Re: (313) Al Ester?

2005-08-22 Thread Jason Brunton
Strangely enough I asked about him just a week or so ago when Buzz
and Haqq were in Glasgow- I'd always been a bit curious about him
since I heard that Pod record (Al Ester is the baddest House DJ in
Detroit and he says you got it goin' ON baby- classic stuff as
you rightly said). He definitely still plays in Detroit and I've
seen his name on billboards at least twice on trips there- he's just
a name that never seems to crop up anywhere- anyone ever heard him
before???

cheers

Jason

actually i know him. hes a pittsburgh artist/hipster type. he has
a band, i dont think theyre very good. he's also a bit of a moron.
soy sos from 3GW is my boy, but i didnt think that rmx was all
that good, they could have done much more with the strength of the
original track.

google barrett black band to see some reviews and stuff from
local press for his band's stuff, i cant seem to find a website
for them.
