Re: (313) bugz
Oooh yeah, it's good. It's more on the groovy soul broken beats with vocals but it's got it's techy moments - Artwork's Red has got big speaker shaking wobbly basslines, Daluq's Oriental Express has techy bits mixed with jazzy flute, Nu Design's Time to Skyank is probably the techiest bit on there - more minimal and a bit darker. Wicked tune. The big vocal tunes are there too - Loose Lips, Future Rage, Got Me Puzzled. As anyone on the list might know I'm a big fan of the Bugz but I sought this mix out soon after visiting Co-op this past summer and I've listened to it at least once a week since. I think it's hard to call it techy or jazzy w/vocals because it's got both and is balanced quite nicely between the two. You'll find enough spacey sounds mix in with jazzy lyrics. No real screaming divas - Alison David is on there but she's not a belter compared to so many other house singers. She's got a great and very powerful voice but not a screamer. Re: (313) Detroit / Insomnia
To much .. I remember finding this site years ago as well .. and it pretty much hooked me on to 313 .. etc . What really excited me was people writing about Techno .. not just music and names .. and parties .. but someone writing about ideas behind the music .. and culture of Techno .. Even today no one really talks about Techno culture .. we talk about records and labels and dj .. and producers .. etc .. which makes the culture this site got me really interested because ' here was someone on the other side of the world .. drawing similar conclusions to me after getting involved in the music .. either it was some fluke of freak .. or the music really can communicate complex ideas .. rhythmic coded tonal knowledge I guess its all a bit hippy ravey to consider these concepts .. however if you look into where current research is taking us in terms of understanding the human brain .. and social communication .. etc .. blah .. I for one still have a very strong relationship with the ideas that dancing and rhythm are really good ways for establishing community .. and beyond this practicing or experiencing .. ways of existing together .. . I used to be involved in large scale out door events .. for upward of 10'000 people .. in hind site these were real interesting experiments into micro societies .. We tried to establish self sustaining fully recycling social environments .. and failed in rather spectacular ways .. however these were safe places to experiment with new ideas .. city developers everyday try and push society in civilizations ' and fail but in rather unsafe ways .. getho dreams .. its interesting to note in my life .. that many of the people I used to party with `10 years ago .. are out in the community generally leading or working on a day to day basis to improve life, society, culture .. while we do get hooked on the music . etc . etc .. I think the merits to techno always remain in the thinking commentary it provided .. it is always more than the party, or the weekend .. its about a way of life, or process of exploration into your environment .. its living in the future . with hope .. not dispare .. // bah . so thanks .. wildteck . for pulling that out .. waking up my brain .. making connections into the past to save our future .. .simon I Wildtek Concept / DJ Dimitri Pike wrote: My insomnia is not bad at all... (313) Nation 12
Anyone heard this one? Nation 12's long-lost album, Electrofear is going to be released by Tape Modern Records on the 14th of November. The album includes John Foxx's collaboration with Tim Simenon, Remember, plus Nation 12's second single, Electrofear.? However, most of the material has never been heard before. In total there are seventy-seven minutes of music including vocal-led John Foxx songs such as Shadow Dancing, Your Kisses Burn and She Was, as well as very different versions of Cities of Light and Invisible Women. The album was rescued from obscurity by a John Foxx fan and then restored and mastered at Serendipity.

Cheers Lee, Cleveland was hot as f**K! Neighborhood Science is actually my old record. The new one is called Style and Pattern. It just came out about a month ago. None of it is really like Sparkle, but there is a tech track on NS called Were Not which I think you will love. cheers, J

(313) photos of your favorite record shops?
anyone got any? one of mine is Underground Solu'shn in Edinburgh - see it here http://www.pigstick.freeserve.co.uk/undersol.html I really like the layout of the shop, the big windows allow lots of light in, tons of eye candy, hip without pretension, and add to that they're some of the nicest people I've met working in a record shop (which is rare). So - where are yours? MEK
(313) A Guy Called Gerald...
Recently I have been listening to AGCG's Black Secret Technology, F.X., Essence, and To All Things What They Need releases as well as many of his remixes (Lamb, Tricky, The Orb, Stone Roses, Black Uhuru, etc). I was reminded how talented Gerald is speaking of AGCG, his website lists that some of his back catalog will be available for purchase on http://www.beatport.com/ and bleep.com. some nice agcg tunes on beatport.com that i was never able to find on vinyl... also on aguycalledgerald.com... - found this link to a live AGCG set from the Laboratory Instinct night, WMF Berlin, June 11th 2005 listed on his website... http://www.guycalledgerald.com/wmf050611/aguycalledgeraldliveberlin110605.mp3 - gerald shows his love for 80s electro by commissioning a special mix by greg wilson called 'No Sell Out.' for more details and download links visit: http://www.guycalledgerald.com/radio/nosellout1.htm - an interesting announcement from the site '2006 is the year of the LIVE studio mix. I'll be simulating an analogue studio in club environments. The soun ranges between my early minimal analogic acid sounds through polyrhythmic jungle into new forms. Experiment No. 1 will be an underground acid experiment somewhere in a private Berlin basement this week. I'll be experimenting on 12 subjects. Stay tuned... the results will be broadcast in early 2006.' i wish i could be one of the 12 subjects he's experimenting on! now playing... A Guy Called Gerald + Lisa May: Voodoo Ray (Justin Robertson's Lion Rock Soundtrack) question... i just read that Gerald contributed a remix to a remix double pack on Theory a few years ago along with Mr G, Baby Ford, Wayback, Ben Sims, and Paul Mac. any reviews on this one? is it more of a harder tech release or more melodic tech-housey? - Roku: wang (retrovert remixes 2x12 (Theory TR020RMX) -- ---Lance 6099 Creekside Lane North Ridgeville, OH 44039 United States

Hello all, I don't post very often, but I'm surprised I haven't seen much mention of Solid Gold Playaz on the 313 as of late. I picked up their 4x12 on Kanzleramt. Okay - is the first track on the B 45 or 33? 2nd is definitely 33, but the first is a toss up to my ears. I like it at 33 and it would be odd to have 2 different speeds on one side (and silly, if you ask me), but... jeff
