Re: (313) new techno book
Shame about the language being in Italian. Rome is the most fabulous city IN THE WORLD (aside from Detroit with all its imperfections) but I didn't get the idea that there was a strong connection to Detroit. That would be really cool to read. Also some people here may be interested to know that the Red Bull Academy is happening here in Melbourne this year!!! (313) Anyone heard of these guys?
From this week's Rubadub mailout: SMBP - Starfailing (Citymorb) - £7.50 SMBP stands for Sunday Morning Brain Production - the brain child of Claudio Fabrianesi and Fab Nahum who hail from Genoa. The Italian duo have at last finished their debut EP for Citymorb and it’s a real stunner. Three tracks of the deepest, minimal electronics which, upon listening, instantly remind us of the genius like productions of Basic Channel and Monolake. Gorgeous stuff with an immense and intense sound, fuelled with fat dubby beats, incessant grooves and eerie background tones. Mastered at DM for maximum impact, this one is a real winner…highly recommended.

Re: (313) Anyone heard of these guys?
Thanks for the tip Jason! Just checked the samples up here: http://www.juno.co.uk/products/203583-01.htm Got one on the way. It's very nice, and I think the Rubadub description does it justice. Good work Fab! Also finally got around to picking up the Moodymann remix of Alif Tree, the TOM project, the new Herbert feat. Mara Carlyle and the Henrik Schwarz remix of Jesse Rose in 15 minutes of perusing what I've been missing so far this year. Oh, and finally got the ART comp. Can't believe it's still kicking around on wax! Oh, and my list keeps growing as I found the C2 remix of Hugh Maskella for £5.99 @ Juno now. Oh, and if you search for Carl Craig at Juno you will get 69 results! No, the artist is Harmonic 313. Mark Pritchard has done a few (great) records under this name. Kinda 313-inspired instrumental hip-hop. hi guys, thanks for the kind words.. just wanted to make a little correction: SMBP are Gianluca Foglino and Stefano Baroffio from Genoa, Citymorb is the brainchild of Claudio Fabrianesi and Fab Nahum :) Tristan: what do you think of the TOM project? I think its OK.slightly run of the mill Theo but still enjoyable. I actually really like it. I only vaguely recalled what it sounded like when I heard it in Theo Parrish's last set at Plastic People (although I remember really liking it), and then I was listening to that Theo Parrish and Rick Wilhite mix from late last year again two days ago, heard that track and realised it must be what it is. I guess hearing it in those two contexts leaves a pretty good impression, but also situates it where it is best meant to be heard. I've been digging out some of my older, more neglected Theo Parrish records recently as well, and I reckon I'm yearning for this side of his sound. Gotta say I hear a fair amount of Omar-S in there as well too. Tristan === [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.phonopsia.co.uk

yes...and www.smbp.it but alas, that too is in italian. they have a netlabel, or as they call it, a share label, called barfog. the idea is to release tracks and then offer the samples for downloading and remixing.i call it collaborative music ;) they also do a wicked live show where one plays with ableton live and the other mixes 2 cd players, so they create a multilayered wall of sound that is a bit like live remixing. thanks again for the props, especially coming from such a distinguished audience ;) - Original Message - From: Edward George [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: 313@Hyperreal.Org 313@hyperreal.org Sent: Friday, May 05, 2006 1:17 PM Subject: Re: (313) Anyone heard of these guys?
